Workington Town are delighted to announce the signing of Peter Lupton.
Chairman Dave Bowden, accompanied by Directors Mark Fryer and Tony Boyd travelled down to Wrexham to complete his signature on Saturday morning at the hotel - currently the base of the Welsh International squad.
The ex Crusaders, Castleford, Hull, London Bronco's and Leeds player, and a member of the Welsh Squad has penned a deal which will keep him at Derwent Park for at least 2 years. Cumbrian born Peter is a player the club coaches have admired for some time. "We have tracked Peter closely since the demise of Crusaders, and we were aware of his desire to return to Cumbria, so we moved quickly to secure his services. He brings a wealth of experience, with virtually all his career played at Super League Level".
We have been impressed by his desire to continue to challenge himself and his committment to developing rugby league in Cumbria. This is one of the biggest signings the club have made in years, acquiring a Super League player of Peters calibre will have a significant impact as we strive for promotion next season" said chairman Dave Bowden.
Paying tribute to main club sponsors, Beckermet based NES, Dave continued "This deal would not have been possible without the assistance of our main club sponsors NES. Through them we have been able to secure him employment which was a major part so it is fantastic they are continuing their support".
