If thats the case then the RFL should be looking to speak with the Uni to have the Crusaders continue as a Championship club , however it must abide by the same rules as whatever league it is in re SC and quota
If they are to recieve any extra funding over and above any other Championship club , they should be placed in Championship 1 and be exempt from promotion

You do know the Uni has only bought the stadium and not the Crusaders club, don't you?
Why would the RFL discuss the future of one of its member clubs with their potential landlord? It would be like inviting the owners of LSV to discuss the future of Leigh Centurions.
Presumably that means the RFL has seen a return on its £700k loan, given the club no longer has the asset it was secured against.

Yes , and if the conclusion that it will remain as a sports venue , then it is a fantastic opportunity to build upon , the Uni will be looking for tenants , the Uni could potentially offer sporting ' Scholarships ' in RL to students from all over Wales tied in with a Championship RL club
The Owners of the LSV are in talks with Leigh Centurions over the future of the club , as the main tenants they would be pretty stupid not to be

I'm sure they are.
What you're suggesting however is the equivalent of the RFL going over Leigh's head and talking to the owners of LSV about the future of their tenants.
The Uni can offer all sorts of things, but if nobody is prepared to run a Championship club in North Wales it's not going to matter. The RFL need to focus their energies on finding a way for the club to survive first, deal with their potential landlords once that is resolved.

No the RFL need to get rid of the current owners , well they dont even need to do that , it would seem there isn't actually a Crusaders club anymore is there ?
The RFL should approach the Uni direct and set up a club , run and funded by the RFL , with coaching and management staff also provided and funded by the RFL

Good post. The club would have to be separate from the uni, because as a charity Glyndwr are not allowed to finance a professional team.

And when that club starts being successful on and off the field, how long do you think it's going to be before the sniping starts from other clubs and their fans about favouritism and conspiracies?
Presumably this club would be forbidden from ever applying for a SL licence while it's under RFL control?
The RFL shouldn't be setting up and running clubs at that level IMO.

Not suggesting they would , however a P/T RL contract could help in funding a student through a degree at the Uni
I'd suggest Iestyn Harris , as coach with Robbie Paul as general manager/player

| They wouldn't even have to be successful. The first game anything goes their way or any time they beat another team the whingers would whinge. But who really cares. The same s have been claiming this club has profited from RFL bias since day one so it's nothing new.

If Glyndwr had made their move earlier, there might have been a chance to find a buyer for the club. How can the rfl, who supposedly carefully monitor the salary cap, fail to notice what the Crusaders owners were doing? It really beggars belief.

That would be a reasonable assumption , however if they reached the level suggested on other threads , ie achieving a level B SL franchise , then I doubt it would be hard to find a benefactor , lets face it we are talking crowds of 6/7,000 in the Championship and winning trophies with 1 quota player , not to mention running competitive scholarships and academies

| Forget how a future club will be funded and just be grateful that any future side will have a ground to play on (as indeed Wrexham FC will). The University have done the Conference, RFL and perhaps even Moss and Roberts a favour as the assetstrippers get out without the potential of being lynched for killing 2 clubs in a week, Wrexham Supporters Trust should get control of their club and hopefully make a good fist of it and the RFL get some of their money back and RL in North Wales should continue at some level.
About the best outcome and I dread to think what would have happened if Glyndwr were not interested in getting involved.

| Wonder if the RFL will get their £700K back now?
The RFL have talked to owners of grounds plenty of times before when clubs have been trouble or gone bust - Rochdale for example. Don't see why Crusaders would be any different.

I would expect that Moss and Roberts will get nowhere near the £2m paid once other claims on the ground are settled (I read there were 7 creditors with securities on the ground) but they have their flats development also to cash in on and in truth they deserve nothing but to be drummed out of professional sport forever.

Assuming that the ground was sold for a value greater than the mortgage then they will have received the £700k as part of that settlement I would have thought.

Why would you need a ' buyer ' ? , the Crusaders club is worthless , it is just a name , nothing else
There is the opportunity here to finally set up a club how it should have been done at the start , the university aspect makes it even more attractive if done properly
Look at how things work in the USA ,

| From Daily Post
THE Racecourse has been sold to Wrexham's Glyndwr University in a historic deal understood to be worth £1.8m.
At the historic Mold Road stadium yesterday the university's Vice President Prof Micke Scott said it was a fantastic opportunity and the top priority was ensuring the future of sport there with Wrexham FC and The Crusaders rugby league outfit.
Beyond that they wanted to link the stadium and Colliers Park Training Ground, which was part of the deal, in with the university's education programme, including sports science and community development.
The former Racecourse owner Geoff Moss said he was relieved the deal had finally been done and praised the speed with which Glyndwr had sorted it out.
He said a deal for the football club was now down to the Wrexham Supporters Trust and how quick they could complete their "heads of terms" for a handover.
Speaking at The Racecourse yesterday Mr Scott said: "The Racecourse is a terrific sports facility and fits in with our plans to establish excellence in the provision of sport.
"The first priority is to see Wrexham continues playing at the stadium and the Crusaders in rugby league."

I know this is a pet idea of yours, and I certainly wouldn't dismiss it out of hand, but do you really think that the other Championship and Championship 1 clubs would accept an RFL funded club playing in their competition? As others have mentioned I can see all sorts of accusations of bias springing up for starters.
