Now that the Franchise have been awarded I wonder what things have been hidden in the closet and when can we expect them to become public?

Wakefields plans are at Public Inquiry nothing secretive about that. Regarding Castlefords, god knows in fact no one seems to know for sure.

That was someone burying all the previous drawings, plans and portfolios of previous stadium promises in a giant landfill.

Stadium plans didn't make a difference for the licensing criteria. Only stadiums that would be open for 2012 were considered as part of the criteria.

There's no doubt in my mind whatsoever that these two teams will be playing out of brand spanking new stadiums by 2015. They've said so in their franchise bids. Their fans on here have categorically said it's going to happen too. That's good enough for me

Just for clarity, the money is there, the site is there, the will is there. We are just waiting for the nod from the public enquiry. In the meantime, Belle Vue is getting a long overdue revamp, to cover for the small possibility that it doesn't get the nod, and that revamp will make it Super League compliant.

Cas have got everything bar the cash and the sale of Wheldon Road. I reckon they will be behind us, but sales can move quickly.

The money is there in exactly the same way Wakey have the money - dependant on a planning decision.

Wheldon Road is sold, the money is released when OUTLINE planning is granted. In the same way Wakefield's money is released dependant on the outcome of the PUBLIC ENQUIRY.

So in that case, Cas are in front on the basis of Outline planning permission will come through before the public enquiry result if the timetables haven't changed since I last saw them.

I'm calling it now in like Feb-March next year the new argument on the Cas/Wakey boards will be "our builders are better"





So what were Cas supposed to do when Ben Bailey REFUSED to pay up what they had agreed to in a contract so the deal was cancelled? Or what were Wakey supposed to do when the government wanted a public enquiry for their stadium?

I doubt he will have a good answer, in his world we all have a council that will build a stadium for us and if we dont its just becuase we cant be bothered, i wonder if widnes promised the rfl they wouldn't go into admin?

its usually best if witty and/or fierce comebacks actually make a little sense.
as you well know being in adminstration during a franchise period is no longer a major consideration.
also, we never had a franchise, so i fail to see how we could have promised anything regarding going into administration on the back of a franchise. BTW, going into administration happened before the franchise announcements, it would be a bit strange to promise to not do something which had already happened.

Not a chance. Fax should (and i suspect they will) just get on with life in The Championships. If they get serious fanancial backing and the crowds hit a regular 3,000 then it'll be time to take interest again. Until that time they shouldn't even contemplate applying again. At least now it's apparent what is [ireally[/i required from the RFL aside from the bul[ils[/ihit floutable "criteria" which fronts the licensing program.

Rich , how funny would it be if nobody applied from the Championship next time

If the lower division clubs wanted to apply some pressure for change then that might be the best way to do it. Had it happened this time, the RFL would have had to explain a shrinking competition to Sky.

The thing is though this time the club going up is clearly stronger than around 4/5 clubs already in SL at the time they were given the spot

Next time , if Cas and Wakey get stadiums sorted , it is clearly going to be a weaker bid from any Championship club , so unless SL is going to grow , then it will clearly be a farce
