Days like yesterday are great. Just as thrilling as anything i've seen after watching Fax for 30 years. The rest of the experience isn't so great. You get used to the drop in the quality of the game - just enough to continue going to watch a team that you love anyway. It's the stagnant nature of the regular season that's hard to swallow. It's like being sat on a heavy sledge on a snowy hill - you keep trying to get momentum by pushing off with your feet but nothing happens - then you watch everyone else on their light-weight Super League sleds - bombing past like Chevy Chase in National lampoons Christmas vacation.

Nothing sinister but Welcome Wakefield, hope you enjoy your time down here...

Whichever division Trinity are in I shall support them.

I'm actually looking forward to it.

I quite enjoyed the seasons that Cas had in NL1. You could chat with the opposition fans safe in the knowledge that they knew what they were talking about instead of the arm chair fans you get at some superleague clubs. The young kids were given their chance in the squad, and we won most weeks.

Although.... for 3 consecutive season? No thanks. I'll stick with mid table in superleague.

I also have to admit that i had some great craic whilst visiting Whitehaven, Barrow, Batley, Rochdale, Oldham, doncaster, halifax, hunslet, york......even(dare i say) fev....i dont know wether i would exchange it for sooper dooper league but i had some good times nonetheless

Glad to hear it. You're Wakefield until you die and that is the way it should be. I didn't desert Castleford when we had time inthe NL but we had promotion in those two years which sadly isn't the case anymore.

looking forward to it. a competition that is about rugby league is just what the doctor ordered.

however the loss of the community side of things and probable decline of one of the best junior set ups, will be a big loss to rugby league.

Not sure how you can draw equivalency when there's a new stadium taking place, and well on the way to completion - as decrepit as Knowsley Road became, it is no longer in existence.

I think it'll be good for Wakey to go down, if they do. They'll have a chance like Widnes did, to get a good youth system, get a outstanding crowd base for the division, and come back stronger, 3 years time.

Will be announced at a press conference at Old Trafford which will probably screened on Sky news.

I think its a forgone conclusion through - Wakey seem likely to drop even though I'll be sad to see them go.

Sounds good but ultimately meaningless.

Widnes' crowds have always been good for this division but the longer you are in it the worse they will get. You don't build crowds in this division, you lose them.

The youth system is significantly more difficult to build in this vision too, it requires a lot of cash and there is always the threat that your players will e poached by a SL side which happened to us when Richie Myler left for Salford. We've had interest from several SL clubs on some of our youth, were I no for the strong probability of promotion we'd have lost a lot of them.

What you can do in the championship is prepare your finances, spend less on the squad and more on other areas. You're not constantly over reaching to stay competitive. You're youth will be less of a burden when you give them a try but then they won't get SL experience from the offset so won't get the opportunities some do and the championship players are not lacking experience so there is still that issue for them to tackle.

Make no mistake, a demotion is not going to make things necessarily easier for wakey, they are going to face a lot of new challenges and will find that they are really in no way superior to the other teams in there, their SL status has been about being in the right place at the right time and put in the championship long term they'll be in the same mix as Fax and Leigh. If it is them going down.
