| Just filled in the quins survey and this name came to me-
Works on all levels IMO - Would get the aussie and kiwi supporters interested, and fits not only with the aussie/kiwi connection but the connection of being exiled from the RL heartland and could gain a bit of 'against the rest of the world' spirit from the londoners.
What does every1 think?

| Broncos. Synonymous with the best days of Rugby League in london. The club doesn't need yet another rebrand. London Broncos.

They've invested in a lot of other sports teams, especially over in Germany and in USA. Hope it's true.

Where did that rumour come from?
Googled it and the first reference is the Linkedin profile for a Red Bull brand manager who guess what? Used to be the Captain of Birmingham University RL team.

At which point in the Broncos existence was RL better off in London (sic) than it is currently ? Think carefully before you answer.

| Here are some facts regarding London RL since 2000:
The average gates at London Broncos for the 2 seasons 2000-2001 was 3,335
The Avergae gate at London RL (AKA Broncos) for the 4 seasons 2002-2005 was 3,704
The average gate at Harlequins RL for the seasons 2006-2010 was 3,686
What can we take from these 3 figures:
1. The name Change from London Broncos, London RL (aka Broncos) to Harlequins RL has made little or no difference to attendances.
2. The association with a Union Brand has not been detrimental in any way much to the annoyance of a few knuckledraggers such as rupe1 and stormingbronco.
3. Obviously, the supposed confusion between us and the Union lot hasn't caused any problems either.
4 Another name change will not make 1 jot of difference to attendances and therefore revenues at the club unless it comes with a massive cash injection for marketing. Given the track record at the club for failing to market itself, I don't see this happening.
I have a lot of time for David Hughes and his devotion to the growth of London RL, but as long as he is in sole charge of the club, marketing will not get the revenue it needs.
What Lonndon RL needs isn't another name change.....it needs SKY/The RFL to do what the NRL and News did with the Storm.

Run two sets of books, get them a superstar team that cannot possibly be under the cap, rat them out and strip them of their titles then make them finish bottom?
I can't believe how badly London RL has failed. On the schools side and amateur side it seems to be fine, numbers are there but there seems to be no ability to grow a fan base.
Richard Branson's involvement was the real big chance and that didn't work.

London RL hasn't....as you say..... Quote ="Saddened!"On the schools side and amateur side it seems to be fine, numbers are there '"
Quote ="Saddened!"but there seems to be no ability to grow a fan base. '"
You think? I have banged on about this since 2003........the club seem incapable of marketing either themselves and/or the game in General.
Quote ="Saddened!"Richard Branson's involvement was the real big chance and that didn't work.'"
Richard Branson was a disaster IMO. He didn't understand what he had bought......I first pitched the club for marketing services when he was in charge......they had no marketing budget then. He thought what had happened with the London Monarchs and their massive fans would happen with RL. He was the first to introduce the "field of dreams" marketing strategy that the club still use.......
Nothing short of a massive cash injection for marketing will see the club fill the stoop, but as I posted back in 2009, a bit of hard work and forward planning, together with clever use of minimum budget would see them get 5,000 at least.

Can't comment on the sponsor.....but SKY TV would be good
first class marketing....... the last job advertised for a marketing assistant was paying less than 30k.
5 Year Plan.......that's the one that costs nothing, but involves hard work......so can't see that happening either

And I can’t believe that some people are still gauging the success of Rugby League in London on the attendances of the London based SL club – do you think the angling community gauge their success on the attendance at the annual Fish 'O' Mania?

| So theyre doing the survey thing OH Dear!
I`ve just filled it in, but for me this isnt the way forward.
No point surveying the already converted.
Is there no young hungry marketing/brand talents in the capital who wants to make a name for themselves.
I dont really like the rebrand of Saints RL BUT I know exactly why they have done it and then they made the decision.
This feels like a board who are saying let the fans decide our next move because we have NO IDEA how to grow the club.

The 'Exiles' are London Irish. Also, the Aussies couldn't give a crap about coming and watching us, so why must we re-market ourselves towards them? We need to be a club for Londoners, not an ex-pat Aussie club.

| London Red Bull sounds good but I doubt the rumour is true.
If not then Broncos for me. Doubt the RFL would like them using Exiles name if they are still doing the Exiles concept next year
