As for Cockayne, he has been given far more chances than most. Its not simply breaching club discipline rules, but it usually results in police intervention / prosecution. He doesn't deserve a place on our game.

i think the quote above was meant as "why does HKR keep Cockayne at the club when he might be such a bad infleunce" - in that sense, it's a fair enough point - a case of who your employer employs to work with you.

The Hull KR management/coaching team are the ones who create the club culture simply by whom they have at the club and what is and isnt accepted.

Sure noone can tell Watts who he can and can't be around but KR by having Cockayne at the club doesn't really give the young lads a good example to follow, it's not just what happens on the field that counts the culture at a footie club is so important. You only have to look at the restrictions fergie placed on players when he first came to Man U and the influence Tony Smith has at Warrington, there must be clear guidelines of what you can and cannot do as a player.

Its not like Cockayne is even any good, is it? I can't beleive they can't find a better youngster in East Hull than that loser.

There's an argument that clubs are a bit stuck when it comes to indefinitely disciplining their players. On the one hand, if they keep them at the club they are having poor role models at their club and affecting the players around them.
On the other, if they sack them, they can immediately sign for another club and come back to bite them in the backside by playing well for them.

Perhaps there is something the RFL can do. Is it fair that a player that is sacked by a club for disciplinary reasons can sign for another for free and immediately? Doesn't this kind of say that if a player wants to be release, he just needs to act like a divvy? Perhaps the RFL should insist on all SL clubs having a 90-day release clause or something that stops players who have been released from playing for someone else so it is more of a deterent?

Or in the Championships or other fringe SL clubs, look at the amount of good quality 18-21 year old players John Kears picked up this year for Wakey, I can see a lot of those making cracking players now that they've had first team rugby.

I would think you're on dodgy employment law ground if you prevent someone from pursuing their career elsewhere once you've sacked them.

If you run a building firm and show one of your brickies the door for being drunk on site, you can't insist that he doesn't work for any other builders for three months (unless he agrees to it as part of a compromise agreement).

They do it in the NRL thought dont they? Was it Todd Carney who got a drink driving ban or something like that and he couldnt play for any club in oz for a year or so....

This is not a defence of him(if he has actualy done anything) but to say he is not any good is complete rubbish, the one thing he can do is play rugby & would get into most super league sides & if you can find better than him around here please let our club know as we could do with them on the books.

I'd have Cockayne at fullback in a heartbeat. I'd have Watts too.

But that would be more like Hull FCs style of recruitment.

I agree with Watts, I think he's quality, but you must have seen something in Cockayne I haven't.

He is competent in several positions, an ideal squad player, but you could not say he would be number one choice in a given position. He gives 110% every game, even when all the other give up like at Leeds and at home to Wire and he clearly has a rapport with the fans. I think he would be a good addtion to most teams (barring the top 4 clubs) as a squad player.

For me, he can go where he likes, so long as he is not dragging our name through the gutters once again.

Chuffed to see Hock back yes, theres no problems with that. Hes done his time for it.

Cockayne on the other hand.. well how many warnings/suspended sentences/bailings does he want? and to top it off he challenges Ryan Bailey for Sh!thouse of the year award.
