| Not to mention up and comers and regulars.
Jharal Yow Yeh
Darius Boyd
Brett Morris
Australia has never had issues putting players that are finishers out of position on the Wing like Hayne (although he was a Club Winger for a good part of his career) or even Brett Stewart.
Lote Tuqiri would get a spot before King if they wanted veterans.

Are we back on that this tiring argument again
When Matt King came to the UK he had played 9 times for NSW and 10 times for Australia, he was in his 20’s and right on top of his game
Let me remind you of the impact that he had in the UK when he arrived... news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/rugby_l ... 946498.stm
The two main differences between the players you have mentioned above and Matt King is that they haven’t played as much representative football as King and they haven’t played regularly in the UK for us to see the weaknesses in their game
Of course, this is discounting the fact that Australian players apparently get bigger, taller, faster and more skilful as they fly back to Australia (is it some kind of Super Hero thing where they draw strength from the Gamma rays emitting from Bondi Beach?)

What I can not give an opinion?
King is not as good now at 30 as he was 4 years ago.
He did play for Australia and went ok but he was always on the end of a team with fantastic distribution at the Storm, NSW and Oz, he was a good finisher.
Warrington seemed to think he was a strike player that would do things on his own like an Inglis.
The unrealistic expectations and culture shock and combined with poor service from his inside players led to what developed in his first season.
Was he a player that made things happen on his own? I don't think so.
Will he play for Australia again? I don't think so.
Jog on.

Of course you can give an opinion and I can disagree with it as I have
King may or not play for Australian again but the outside backs available for Australia are certainly no stronger than they were when he left for the UK so there is every chance he can

Is King better now than he was in 2007, now at 30 years of age?
Has his time in England improved his game to a standard higher than what is available from the NRL?
The game in Australia continually moves forward.
In the defence regimented NRL he scored 60 tries in 90 games
In England he has around 48 from 91, plenty of variables there but if he can not average better in England than Australia he is unlikely to make a massive impact.
The bottom half of the teams in SL should be a carve up for a top player.

This fascinates me
King has a better strike rate in Australia than he does in the UK and rather than interpreting this as SL being more competitive than it is given credit for you conclude that King must have become a worse player while in England – why would he?
I would guess that if we were having this conversation in 2008 just before King came over, as a current NSW and Kangaroo representative you would have rated him as one of the top players that would carve up the bottom half of Super league (in actuality, the Wire fans all wanted him packed up home in his first season)

63 in 95 actually, and i'd say for about 30 of them games we were gash 08/09

He had a suspect shoulder from what I remember and no NRL clubs would give him a decent contract so he came to Warrington.
When you factor in the exchange rate back then it made sense for him to play superleague.

No NRL Clubs were offering a Winger/rookie Club Centre 1/2 a million dollars a year for a four year contract.
Four year contracts are uncommon in the NRL most are at most three years, he grabbed the deal and good luck to him,
Form is a fickle thing and he sold himself at the peak of his reputation, in the NRL he could have easily been not picked at State or Test level again and his price would reflect that.
He was a Test player but he was not a player that could make things happen, he was a Player that could find the line and power over.
Great if you have a well oiled machine feeding that tool, not quite as great when a Club with a mixed bag expect that player to turn a game.
No disrespect to Warrington but when King was running over for those tries look who was in the team.
Inglis
Folau
Cronk
Slater
Cam Smith
A Forward pack that were 50% Test players for Oz or NZ
