| This isn't a shameless plug, just something I've been doing for a number of weeks after seeing the system used in football to a great degree online that I thought you might like to see.
Basically it's a true reflection on the Super League table, listing teams on their points and showing the gaps between each team, and it gives you a chance to see just how far away your team is from another team, or the play-offs for example!

| Not having a go but it is only helpful if you cannot mentally work out how many wins/draws it takes to reach or pass the team above you or how many wins/draws it takes for the team behind you (not such a luxury for us Crusaders fans at the moment) to catch up.
If you can't work out something that simple then the Super League table is the least of your worries.

| Tbf, I think that is quite useful way of looking at things. Sometimes only a couple of points might seperate a few positions or you might be third but a very distant third.

I agree, but it's convenient. And sometimes league placing is an over simple measure of success. On the Rovers and Hull boards, and I'm sure others, you see comments like 'if we make the top 6, that is fine, but if we miss out on the play-offs altogether, the coach needs replacing.' If the gap to sixth is big that makes sense, but if you've missed out on 8th by points difference and sixth was only 2 points away it is maybe a harsher judgement.

I love this post - Calling someone out because "It's 2011" followed by calling someone a 'Luddite'.

| More interesting would be how the SL table would look with a bonus point structure....e.g. a point for losing by less than 7 points and an extra point for scoring say 5 tries in a match.
I know it probably shouldn't be brought in....but would the SL table look much different?

As long as he name drops me, Clarkey, you have my permission! Like I say, it's nothing serious or anything, just a table that takes a minute to throw together, and it's a bit of a different concept and way of looking at things.

| If you've got the time and the inclination for compiling alternative tables why not have a go at doing a Super League table dating back to its inception.
It maybe interesting, it takes time to build a successful team and good management to maintain a level of achievement over a number of years not just one season.
I would guess that Saints or Bradford would come out on top, but it would be interesting to chart the progress (or not) of other clubs.

Wigan would be 2nd if it was updated now.

| I get the gist ok but you state that a club not having played the same number of games will have it posted in brackets.
Wigan and Castleford have been a game behind all season and you haven't mentioned it.
Is there a reason or is it just an omission?

| That table by Bilko can't be right. It's common knowledge that Quins don't deserve a franchise and were never any good, yet they are ahead of Cas, Catalans, Huddersfield & Wakefield.

Nothing wrong with it's use in this context. Luddite is often used to represent someone who is afraid of moving forward with the new trend and ways of improving things. Gay is clearly the future, why be so Southern Texas about it all?

Well all credit to whoever compiled it.
I think it should be more widely publicised so he can get the recognition he deserves.

Fail. Ludd was a man who destroyed industrial machinery to stop machines taking over, hence a 'luddite' is someone who won't let industry move forwards.
