The only thing I would say is that maybe the rules on applications need tweaking to avoid a scenario where a club can ensure they meet the playing criteria in year 1 and then "put the cue on the rack" in that regards for two years, stop investing on the playing side, cop a few hammerings and then plan to buy a whole new squad for SL.

Hull FC said this when Hull KR came up. Some of them assumed they would get easy games against their rivals. Easy games do not exist against rival teams.

Good point but to be fair its not like we were table toppers before we won the NRC in year 1. We were always in the play offs and have continued to do so with us making the NRC final last year also. Does our academy count on the 300 salary cap by the way because we've done tremendous work in ensuring some of our youngsters stay with widnes.

I doubt the 2011 1st team squad will look much like the 2012 team.
