| I've noticed that the FA have set up a "super league" as a new professional women's league. Should the RFL have not fought this name?
I would imagine if this new league takes off then talking about super league would cause confusion as to which sport it's focusing on.
After all, the bottom of the [url=http://www.superleague.co.uksuper league site[/url does detail how they are a registered company. Does that give them legitimacy over the name "super league"?

| The top british netball league is called the 'Superleague'. There is a touch rugby union tournament called 'Touch Superleague'. The Greek, Chinese, Turkish and Malaysian football leagues are called 'Super League'. You could watch the Muay Thai 'SuperLeague' or the English Futsal 'Super League'. There are probably many more examples of Super League so I don't think there are any rights over the name.

| as stated above, there are that many 'super league' competitions, it would be impossible to register the name for RL use only. Therefore, the RFL will only challenge ones that directly affect our competition.
I would assume that the RFL would fight it hard if the RFU was to start a competition called the 'Rugby Super League', for example.

The union mob in the states already have. www.premier-rugby.com/template2.php
As for challenging our competition although its footie. But the media hype of WSL is far more than Rugby League Super League at the moment.

| Hmm not so sure. I have had to apply for trademarks for work and if the category is the same then you can trademark Superleague as a sports brand and it couldn't be used in other sporting contexts.
Personally I'd love to see it dropped and and the words rugby league incorporated into any new branding.

i believe the british or maybe european speedway championship is also called 'Superleague'. its a gash name anyway, always has been. nobody who didnt already know its association would ever think the 'league' refers to Rugby League rather than a 'League' of teams. im assuming this double association was the thinking behind it in the first place. its just weak, cheesy and vague, and it was weak and cheesy even in the mid nineties when such things were the order of the day. ERL 'European Rugby League' makes much more sense and at least brings a degree of brand homogeneity with the only other pro league in the world, the NRL.

| We are the Super League and the others need to put their country or sport in front of it in the same way that in England we have the Challenge Cup and other sports need to put words in front of it because we got there first or are the oldest existing claimants on the title.

| I think the [Insert Brand Cup would be a good choice, I gives us something different from other competitions, and it also makes the play offs more explained if you know what I mean, they are the Play offs for the Engage Cup, and the season is going towards the [Insert Brand Cup.
