Unbelievable. OK, so they put in official complaints but this does not entitle Agar or Hetherington to bleat like a stuck whinging pig and Violet Elizabeth Bott respectively. I hope they get a huge fine and a ban.

Yeah, and he was bad for both teams but Cas aren't going on about it are they?
Just looking for an excuse for losing tonight, nothing more, nothing less. The worst thing is, some Hull fans actually think he cost them the game when he gave them 3 penalties back to back to get the game close in the first place...one of which was for not standing square when Cas were defending on their own try line!
Pathetic reffing and even more pathetic from Hull with all the bleating about it, he's been that bad every week this season.

As cringeworthy as those complaints are, I would have to say that as a championship fan I was genuinely and 100% convinced that childs would not last long in the championship. BUT I did NOT see him leaving to go to a HIGHER league!!! He is without a doubt the pettiest and most frustrating official I have ever seen. I wouldn't say he is incompetant... he isn't. I wouldn't say he is clueless... he's not, he knows the rules very well. He is just incapable of enforcing the rules of RL in a manner that provides justice, fairness and entertainment. All in all he is a terrible RL referee and I love the fact that SL are now stuck with him and the championships no longer have to deal with his awful performances!

| It does seem like an excuse but it was a truly awful performance by him and when Agar is under as much pressure as he is I can't blame him for these words.
Some of Childs highlights were:
Sin binning Radford for the first penalty of the game for a grapple tackle that you see probably 50 times per game.
Calling out Willie Isa and talking to him on three seperate occasions as the instigator of a fight but not showing a card.
Shaun Long gets his head taken off and is injured so ref stops the clock . Fitzgibbon (captain) goes over to have a word and the second he opens his mouth the ref turns and gives Cas a penalty.
Hull knock on, Cas pick the ball up and Dixon runs 20 metres forward before Briscoe tackles him into touch, ref says no advantage and goes back for the knock on.
It's not a case of making mistakes, everyone gets things wrong sometimes and tbh I normally stick up for refs. However Childs just seems like he wants to be the centre of attention all the time. 27 penalties were given and it completely ruined it as a spectacle, even more so when you consider he must have stopped to game to have a word with someone at least 10 to 12 times.
With a different ref there is no doubt in my mind Hull would have won, that said a top side would have won regardless and Agar should worry about that rather than wasting his time complaining.

| I don't know why the Cas fans are being so quick to slag Hull off for making the opinions heard.
Nobody is saying he won Cas the game and lost Hull it, the main concern here is that he completely ruined a game. 27 penalties in one game is a joke.
Cas fans can hopefully back me up when I say I feared we'd get penalized every time we went to tackle.
When Rugby League as a sport and even coaches like Agar are under pressure its beyond a joke when you get match officials who ruin games like Childs did last night.
Its his fault Sean Long got sent off , its his fault the players were brawling every 5 minutes. Its his fault no team could really get going.
I don't see this as Hull whining because we lost, we are poop and we know we are and expected to lose anyway. This issue is starting to spiral out of control with Childs , I know we are struggling for referee's but a blindman could do better then childs!

| He's been ruining games since the pre season trials. Maybe every coach needs to be slating him then the RFL might get the message that he isn't up to controlling a SL game.

Give your head a bang pal, even as a cas fan surly you could see he never had control of the game at any point.
The guy let the clock run down for a minute before realising that he should of stopped it at one point and even warned your capt 3 times in 2 sets about constant infringements but did nothing of note he is clearly out of his depth.
Even matterson has had a dig about him in his interview granted not as much as what but I'm sure it would of been worse if you had lost.

| He wasn't that great in the Wakefield-Leeds match. His uneven awarding of penalties pretty much dictated the course of the match.
He has the makings of a good referee, but he needs to apply some common sense to his officiating.
Having said that everyone knows he is a pedantic and picky ref so they should adapt to his game. The team that does that the best will win the games he is in charge of.

| lets get 1 thing straight childs performance was incompetent at best,he was has bad for BOTH sides and had hull won the game believe you me the first thing cas fans would have done is blame childs performance.
the worrying thing for me is that he has no respect from any of the players and the players took actions into their own hands with 3-4 fights.has a game it was a decent specticle has both sides played hard which and went toe to toe which made it an exciting game but the refereeing was a joke from the man who just loves to blow that whistle for the slightest thing.
think the final penalty count was 16-11 in hulls favour.

Regardless of the penalty count itself i think the thing what killed us was where and when the penalties were given, after watching inadequate performances from my team so far this season I could finally see they were up for this one but were never allowed to gather any momentum despite them battling to the final hooter. So why was a Brett Ferres offence identical to the Radders one not yellow carded? Or the 7 or 8 others not punished the same way?

FWIW I do have a lot of sympathy for the Hull fans, not just for the result, but for spoiling the game- Childs is essentially ruining what is meant to be 80 mins of entertainment by craving attention through his pedantry. If Cas had lost I would have been very dissappointed, but as I did after Millenium Magic, I came away from the game thinking "that could have been a free flowing game, but instead it was the Childs show."
I also think that the scuffles that occurred tonight were the result of his lack of control, and frustration brimming over. I'm sure anyone at the game can see tonight that his ineptitude and failure to get any respect from the players probably caused the anger that alot of the players had.
Still, I thought Cas did well to hang in there and get the win, but I do appreciate that the Hull fans are right to be aggrieved.

And there are many more on the Hull board saying the same. Lots of Hull fans are saying he won Cas the game, saying Cas are crap and that Hull should have wiped the floor with us. Lots of examples from the Hull fans of bad decisions but all seem to be where it went against you. What was the penalty count in the end? I know it totalled 27 but they didn't all go against Hull. As Cas fans, we were disgusted in lots of the decisions that went against us, you could say we were fuming, just as you lot were. Had we lost we would have most probably blamed the ref also. But if we'd claimed we would have wiped the floor with you had it been a different ref, some people might have been able to believe this given the current league table standings, the fact we're playing pretty well and Hull have been crap, that's your own fans words since you're wanting your coach out.
Childs spoilt the game. He's a pedant but doesn't even do this consistently one minute blowing for the strange and then not for the obvious. Surely both sets of fans can agree on that but please have some respect for Cas Hull fans (some of you).
