On Boots 'n' All they were saying that Cambridge have only got 3 players that played last year and Oxford are pretty much the same team. Also the Cambridge assistant coach was incredibly irritating, so hope Oxford stuff 'em.

His surname is something like Ranamacker. No idea how it is spelt. He is playing on the wing. Apparently never played rugby until he came to University and comes from a Handball background. Oh, and he has girls hair!

A number of Handballers in Germany have started playing Rugby League. Thomas Isaak is one, he is 2 metres tall 115 Kg and is quick and agile and has very good hands for a big lad and still only 19. Handballers seem to be better at taking to RL than Union players in a lot of cases I know. Maybe because they have to be fit, strong and have good ball skills and also its quite a physical sport is Handball

I didn’t realise that Oxford now award a full Blue for Rugby League (great news) and Cambridge still only awards a half. That will make a massive difference to the profile of the sport in the respective universities

Cambridge doesn't seem to take most sports as seriously as Oxford, we've got an American Football friendly scheduled to play Cambridge in a few weeks with them looking at getting into the league by 2012, whereas Oxford have had a team for 20 years.

why the hell is this game played on a thursday on cold march night?

Seems like a wasted opportunity to get students/kids and adults involved who have never seen a rugby league game live. This should be played on a saturday or sunday on a summers day.

I know that in Oxford the Trinity term ends in late May/early June with many students having exams before the end of term – I think March/April is the latest we will get this fixture
