| Good old big chinned pommie 'superman' Gareth Eliss had a real Barry Crocker today didnt he
Bombed ANOTHER try by not holding onto the ball correctly...seem to remember a similar thing against the Chooks a few weeks ago?
Wouldnt let the Maori player get to his feet giving away a simple 2 points for the kicker to square things up.
And thats just the 2 bits I can remember from a forgettable performance.
Now will you believe he was voted player of the year (by all the other Wests players) as a sort of encouragement thing?
He are 2 little tips for any pommie 'players of the year' who want to be taken seriously by anyone outside of your own club.
1. Make sure you keep a firm hold of the ball when you are about to score a try. You might make yourself look stupid. AGAIN
2. Move away from the player who has been tackled after the tackle has been completed..especially if its in front of the sticks

Don't say that
Imagine how stupid I'll feel if he scores a 90 metre length of the field match winner in the final against Australia after taking the ball off Billy Slater in a one one one strip
God I'll have a nightmare about that tonight now

| Gaz has always been a quality player, but 90 yard scores are not exactly the kind of thing he's known for. He will try to run through walls and knock down trees all day long though.
However, he did look a bit off it at times today.
We are gonna get taught some major lessons over the coming weeks!!!!

| Quote ="Ovavoo"He was still one of the best players on the park, which really isn't saying much as both teams played as if they hadn't touched a ball in anger for several weeks. Wait a minute, they have't touched a ball in anger for several weeks, which means all the mistakes, loose carries crap tactical kicking etc etc etc, were all part of Mcnamaras secret plan. Pretend to the Aussies and Kiwis that England are cr*p and they'll be in for a real nasty surprise when we play them in earnest. They might only beat us by erm, 30 points instead of 50.
'"
We will know where England are after the game against NZ.
Sadly for England after a slow start today NZ looked pretty awesome.
I can still see the PNG game being Englands 'cup final' ....to avoid finishing bottom of the ladder

| Yep, looks like being in the NRL has ruined a good player, brought him right down to their level.

Except we all know that won't happen ............. you can't strip the ball off Slater, because he usually has already thrown a wild interception over his shoulder to gift the winning try to the opposition.

IF it did happen Slater would tear down the field in pursuit of Ellis and "accidentally" kick him in his lantern jaw as he was touching down.

| Slater, genius.
Rule changes and even his mistakes are because he is too far ahead of his own team for his own good.
Like many of the greats.

| it was just two rusty sides playing a warm up game, Gareth Ellis is the least of our worries, IMO we are short of H/B's we dont have much of a kicking game and not a great deal of speed out wide either.

Don't you mean one pretty clueless side and one scratch side thrown together to provide a warm up for the alleged 3rd best team in the world?

| In Ellis's defence, the no-try decision could have gone either way.
The penalty in front of the posts was certainly careless, but it was no worse than most of the rucks in that game - I've not seen any play-the-balls that slow in Superleague this season, and that worked to the Maori's benefit in the first half.
It doesn't matter if it's Pennine League Div 7 or an international Test, slowing the PTB down is a great leveller.
Funnily enough though, I can't see the PTB being slowed down for us against NZ and Aus.

Certainly was in this case wasn't it.
2 points from the resulting kick and the scores were tied up.
WHY do these players think they can get away with it?
It's madness!
Maybe the penalty Eliss gave away was down to lack of fitness though. The whole side looked like they were blowing hard in the second half

Maybe you are right, maybe Oz clubs don't know how to get players fit? He was certainly fit enough when he left our shores to join the crims.
