| Barry McKenzie will be departing the UK at the end of the year. I've had a great time in England... I'm not quite sure when it was... but I'm sure I must have.. once or twice.
I'm looking at supporting a Superleague club for the remainder of the season. This will involve buying a bit of merchandise and coming along to a couple of fixtures. I feel it is the least I can do.
But which club shall I go for?
This is a serious post... I do want to support a club... but I cant make my mind up.
This is my view on the SL clubs and why or why I would or wouldnt go for them.
Wigan.
Great club, great history, some decent Aussies playing (and have played) for them over the years. Friendly people. Repulsive pies. Nice shirts. A real possibility for my support. Aussie coach.
Warrington.
Havent won much. Used to be something to do with a wire company. Got Adrian Moreley (one of Barry McKenzies all time least favourite players) playing for them. Nice looking ground. Pretty foul playing shirts. Couldnt tell you who the coach is without looking it up. Probably an Aussie as they are second on the ladder.
Saint Helens.
Friendly people. Run down ground. Used to win lots of things. Shirts too much like St Ge**ge Ill***rra Chokers to be taken seriously. Rank outsiders (even though replica shirts are only £25)
Hull.
Friendly (if aggressive) people. Nice looking shirts. The Ogre and Fitzy (2 of my favourite players) in the squad. Didnt like the ground (unusual park and ride system) Probably not an option even though a mate of mine used to play for them (and he said it was crap) Bizarre English 'coach'
Leeds.
Cant be taken seriously with Jamie Peacock as a player. Sinfield is boring. Danny McQuire has a face you would never get tired of punching. Quite nice shirts. Coached by a kiwi. Not an option though.
Huddersfield.
Reasonable looking shirts. Nice stadium but shocking parking. Didnt like the area particularly. Despite having an Aussie coach it's not an option for me.
Hull KR
Friendly (if aggressive people) Shirts do nothing for me. Dont know enough about them to be considered. Coached by an Aussie who pretends he is welsh.
Castleford.
I have no idea why but there is something about them I like. The shirts might be orange and sponsored by some bizarre fun park but I kinda like them. The pitch always looks nice. Coached by an Aussie. A definate possibility.
Wakefield.
Know nothing about them other than its in Yorkshire and they have an inflatable cat down one end of their ground.
Bradford.
Strange looking ground, strange looking shirts. Used to be good. A possibility because Beaver Menzies plays there. But probably not. Lose points because the incredibly irritating Paul sisters used to play for them.
Crusaders.
Chockers with old past it or not good enough for the NRL Aussies who should have retired years ago. Nice shirts. Brian Noble seems a nice bloke. Gareth Thomas is a legend. Not really a serious option though.
Salford.
I've been through Salford and found it one of the most depressing places I've ever visited. And I've been to Mumbai. Bomber McRae is in charge. Not bad shirts. Not an option.
Harlequins.
My local club. Poor coach, no fans, revolting shirts, no big name players, groundsharing with a union club. Definately not an option. Apparently they dont even sell VB at their home fixtures anymore.
Catalans.
Nice shirts, quite a few Aussies... even though they are of the same calibre as the ones at Crusaders. But realistically... not an option.

| Cas's shirt is not orange, it's Amber and at that is nearer to yellow than orange.

I've only ever seen one on telly or on their website.
Did they used to be Orange a few years ago?

| Got to say i spat my coffee out laughing at a few of those comments Baz (Danny McGuire, the Inflatable Cat, Freindly (if aggressive) people from Hull. Quality comments Baz!
From what you say, it should be Castleford. It's Rugby League and the reason you don't know why you like them should be the exact reason you support them.
I've also seen Cas shirts around quite cheap too mate.

| Just because I'm in Paris, don't think you're somehow off the leash, McKenzie.
Oh, and stay away from my club ...
