| I was just wondering if it was treated seriously in Ireland.

Its Gaelic footy, Hurling, Rugby Union (your second favourite sport) or nothing in Ireland!

| No It's soccer, Gaelic and hurling, union, hockey, cricket, basketball, everything else and finally league.
GAA of course essentially have a monoploy on one side of the community.

| Gaelic football / hurling is predominately played by all the Catholics with the Protestants playing soccer (the English sport)
Gaelic and Hurling are invariably participated the most but seeing as its not professional more and more players are opting for careers in rugby and football.

| Alas all of the above is correct, however as one man i can only do so much...i have kick and screamed to get games shown in my local pub when Cas have been on Sky and to be fair a few of the locals have taken a small interest(maybe sympathetically) but it remains an uphill struggle, there are a few teams in ireland and a league structure, the success in the WC worked a little but with no promotion or celebration of their acchievement at the WC it seems it will remain the 10th most popular sport in Eire

| Ahhh thought so....i tried to follow the ol gaelic football but became disillusioned when my adopted team of wexford were playing dublin in a quarter final and dublin had 2 men sent off in the last 10 minutes, the game finished in a draw and went to extra time....and the two sent off players were allowed to come back on!!!!! Needless to say dublin went on to win but i thought it was a lousy rule
