BBC Wales have confirmed that their feature on South Wales Scorpions will be broadcast this Friday evening on BBC2 Wales starting at 9pm.

The very popular “Sport Wales” programme will be screened after the rugby union match between Leinster and Ospreys so will pick a strong rugby audience.

It can be seen on Sky Channel 102 in Wales and Sky Channel 991 outside of Wales.

A BBC press release says: “When Celtic Crusaders pulled the plug on professional rugby league in the south of the country and decamped to Wrexham, a new team stepped into the breach.

“Enter the South Wales Scorpions...the rugby league newcomers who play their National League games (sic) at one of the hotbeds of rugby union - The Gnoll in Neath.

“Sport Wales sends Lisa Rogers into the Scorpions' lair to discover how they're shaping up so far in their debut season, how big the appetite is among supporters and what the club's hopes are for the future.”

Interviews took place last Sunday at The Gnoll during the Scorpions' match against Oldham. The best action from that game will also be shown.

The Scorpions have no game this weekend as they have not entered this year’s Carnegie Challenge Cup. Their next home game is on Monday 3rd May when they take on high flying Blackpool Panthers at The Gnoll in Neath (kick-off 3pm).

in fairness the CRU had regular LIVE matches on S4C..!!

Getting them to cover us on a regular basis will be the issue. Crusaders always had the "one offs" but you're right, the local papers weren't great for the Crusaders. I always said that Bridgend suffered for not having a local DAILY paper of its own.

But the matches were on for those who wanted to watch them. Albeit with Welsh commentary. I watched a few games, the commentary was much better than Eddie & Stevo

Maybe... but there sport coverage is 2nd to none. i bet they show the best coverage of rugby on any terrestrial TV. IE, they hve had CRU, show Magners lge every weekend, all wales internationals, Sevens, Super 14, Heinken CUp highlight shows are on there and sky have the rights, RL is missing a trick here they should get a show on S4C.

They also show a lot more sports including Cardiff City football and welsh league footy.

Yeah they got slated by the daily Wail. Most of these programmes that got 0 are repeats on sundy lunch. Wales is now a digital only area. Pre Switch channel 5 got plenty of 0 rating programmes.

For thos that dont know RL got about half of what magners league got and this was for Chanpionship and C1 rugby league which really is pretty good.

To source a tv rating only 6,000 people submit what they watch and it is then upscaled to a semi correct figure.

So the people at sky dont spy on you.

If you put the subtitles on, you got an English translation (albeit a second or two behind the speaker).

They actually now offer the red button that gives english commentary.!!

Wow.

If only they would televise Scorpions games. Still there's always next season.

Mind you that would mean that my Welsh will never progress beyond "cais".
