| With their squad full of Welsh players won again today to move clear at the top of the table. Also they got the highest attendance out of all the games in their division. What do the anti-expansion flatcapper nobody can play or watch rugby league away from the M62 think to this?

| I went to the game and it was a very solid display from Scorpions.
Much sterner tests will lie ahead but three wins from four will do for now.

| The flatcappers will be all 'great, brilliant' until they start challenging THEIR teams, namely Widnes, Leigh, Halifax et al. This is what happened with the Crusaders.
'Oh Catalans shouldn't be put straight into SL, they should do it like Celtic working up from Div 2' was a regular line used until CC actually challenged the top Chp teams and then it all turned on its head.

What an incredibly stupid comment!
I'd say if they continue to play well and get promoted then that is excellent news for them, and for the sport, and if they then go on to be succesful in the Championship and get to superleague ahead of the likes of Widnes and (my team) Fax then fair play.
I think you will find that no one at all would be opposed to a team getting promoted who genuinely deserved it.
The problem with Crusaders was that they were promoted despite a lack of genuine success on the field, a lack of support, and with a ground that clearly wasn't up to it. This season they look a different matter entirely, and had they had this stadium, the crowds and some level of stability when they were originally promoted no one could have complained. Fact is that when they did go up to SL, they didn't deserve it.

Again, just wrong.
The reason anyone complained at the promotion was that they were not challenging those teams, particularly not for attendance, stadium etc. Funnily enough, everyone was proved right, it was wrong to promote them, they weren't ready for it, hence why they essentially shut down, then reforemed entirely differently. Are you lot blind or just plain stupid?
I'm not for one second going on a mad defensive for my own team here btw, I don't think Fax should have gone up either, I thinkanyone with any level of sense is aware it should actually have been Widnes, they were far better equipped for it at the time.

| Look at them now, call it an accident, call it fate, but it wouldn't have happened had they not been promoted.
To be honest, I think the RFL had an idea they may fail in Bridgend but wanted to test the water anyway.
And trustafox, the moaning started LONG before they were anywhere near SL

I think that you will find that in 2009 super league was to expand to 14 teams, in the championship in 2008 salford finished 1st and crusaders 2nd. So you cant argue crusaders were promoted despite any on the field success.

If they do it on equal terms then I can't see anybody having a problem with it. But calm down a bit anyroad, they've only won a couple of league games - long time to go before they even dream of going up to the Championship, never mind challenging for Super League!

Equal terms.. hmm
Plenty of other teams had more than one overseas player, certain teams stuck to the quota but there were others that didn't. Equal terms isn't having three SL clubs on your doorstop where you can pinch players off every year, how many ex Warrington academy lads do you have in your team, 8? 9? Cru couldn't do that.
Daft argument anyway, been done to death.
Let's see where the Scorps are in another 6 months.

I think my concern with their on field success had a lot to do with quite how much the rules were bent in their favour, wouldn't have happened if they were on a compltely level playing field. And as I've said before, they folded, shouldn't that then have left them out of the league, with a new team stating in Wrexham at a lower level? And with the Scorpions team replacing them?
Funny how quick the RFL have been to kick teams out the Championship for similar indescretions, why ot just 're-locate' those too?

| The thread is simply congratulating the Scorpions on the start they have made. Can't see it being different to the Leigh post Super League intentions thread after a win against Fax who were also beaten by Hunslet a week or so ago.
As for Crusaders not deserving to go up, as has been pointed out they finished second and then made the play off final before being beaten in extra time. The Crusaders did what they had to do to secure Super League. The Visagate thing has been discussed time and again but we won't be the first club to bend the rules and won't be the last. There are more established heartland clubs who have done so and if anything they don't need to as much. If an organisation has not got strict enough checks and rules in place then there will always be somebody who tries to get around rules or escape checks. This applies to life in general and not just rugby league I think people will agree also.
What winds me up most in all of this is that Leighton Samuel has now sold the club and most of the people responsible for making the mistakes regarding Visa's are no longer at the club and have moved on. The new owners got the fine that was dished out and the fans, who had no influence over the decision to bring lads over on dodgy Visa's, seem to be the ones that have it dragged up time and again. I don't care either way whether people bring it up but I think the problem lies with the RFL and the people at Crusaders at the time rather than anybody currently at the club (well maybe one) and there is nothing the new owners or the fans could have done to change that.

| If they finish at the top it will be well done from me but there is a long way to go and many teams will have a say in it. I have to say i wasn't too impreesed with them when they played Donny despite them winning.

| Whoever gets promoted from CC1 this year will have a heck of a job next year to survive. The standard in the Championship is going up all the time and the gap is widening.
Dewsbury won all their games last season and have struggled to get with the pace so far. I don't see anyone with Dewsbury's class in CC1 this year.
I know Hunslet beat Halifax last week but look what happened to fax yesterday.

As a Keighley fan I can completely agree with you there. With pretty much the side that came second in CH1 last season, we've lost all 4 league games, got destroyed by Widnes, and have only managed 2 bonus points so far (and one of them was against 12 men). All this despite us looking a far fitter and stronger outfit than last season.
The players in the Championship are far fitter, faster, stronger and more skilful than Championship 1. And i'd say the gap is widening fast, as Keighley and Dewsbury are far superior sides to the Gateshead and Doncaster teams that went down last time around.

It's only a few months since we had one of the promoted teams from CC1 win the championship in their first season!
I think it's more that the standard in the championship is very even. The richer clubs are constrained by the low salary cap and can't just go out and buy the best players. When all of the clubs are spending similar amounts on their squads, it's hard for any one team to stand out. I'd say the standard at the top of the championship is a lot lower than it was 2 or 3 years ago, but the standard at the bottom is a lot higher - hence Leigh & Toulouse finishing near the bottom last year but losing only a couple more games than Barrow as the winners. We'll see quite a few unexpected results; a few injuries could see any of the "top" teams ending up near the bottom.
Agree that CC1 looks much weaker than previous seasons. We'll be able to judge S.Wales more fairly when they've played some of the better teams - Blackpool, Hunslet or Oldham. I guess they may find it difficult to strengthen the squad by bringing in new players if they do go up.

£5.50 - it's free to get out, though.
If you're asking about the rugby rather than the severn bridge, it's £8.

| As I undersatand it the coach has targetted 5 wins this season, with a tilt at the Championship next year after the many Union boys in the team have had a chance to pick the game up a bit more.
Still, 3 wins from 4 you wouldn't bet against Scorps achieving that first target eh?
But as has been said if we made the Championship - with the stated aim of keeping the team as Welsh as possible - where would we recruit CC quality Welsh players from? Perhaps one or two from the Crusaders squad (though I would imagine they'd not be keen on losing the few Welsh boys that they have).
So we have to grow 'em and keep 'em. As such I think it would be a bad thing if Scorps were promoted this year. Better the Union boys get a bit more experience and (hopefully) go up next year.

| Fair post Grendel and it could be a problem for the next year or two although if the Scorps were winning regularly and building a profile you'd hope there would be some better union converts or 16/17 year olds approached.
You're not telling me that the players playing there now are the best young guys in south wales. Hopefully with an increased Welsh interest there'd be more and more talented guys looking to pick it up

| Perhaps when Widnes went into Administration, they should have been dropped to one of the lower leagues. Would have been saved the moaning from their fans that they didn't get into Super League, despite neither contesting the Grand Final nor having a sound financial footing.

But no,it'll be come on fast track them, hurtle them into the big time,5 big spanking and then get rid is the usual rl policy
good luck to them
