Basically, I'm a third year student at the University of Huddersfield and for my dissertation I am studying the relationship between sport, business and the media and obviously rugby league has been affected massively since 1996.

I would be grateful if as many people as possible would take a short time out (shouldn't be too long, although questions may require some more detailed answers).

Just a pointer, and feel free to tell me to pi=#000000ss off. I would encourage you to look at what happened to rugby league in the 50s and 60s when television was introduced. Look at the BBC's and Eddie Waring's role. Then check out the findings of The Caine Report in the early 70s. You may find there are parallels with the events of 1995/6. HTH.

Indeed. I wrote a sociology essay based on TV and media in sport, and used the Super League War as an example of how bad things can get when TV companies start splashing their cash around for the top products in world sport.

a lot of this recent stuff followed what happened in australian cricket. look up Kerry Packer and some of his dealings. he was the one who went to war with rupert murdoch in the super league wars

if your covering media in football look at deloites report for richest clubs in europe (summary report is free to download) and compare this to how tv money is distribtued in eahc nation. compare that to spending etc
