| So that's it then.
Rugby League has been taken off Bridgend. We all knew about the Wrexham Crusaders.
But the preferred option of an independent club in Bridgend appears to have been binned, in favour of the RFL's option of a Crusaders sub-club in Neath.
All the Wrexham Crusaders' "on the road" games where they "spread the word" will be at Neath. Nothing for the home of Rugby League in Wales.
So that's it. I'm out. Out of the Wrexham Crusaders, out of the Neath side, out of Rugby League.
Leighton Samuel has killed my passion for both codes, aided and abetted by the gutless lack of vision and incompetence of both governing bodies.
I never understood why you lot deride the RFL so much. I do now.
I have to say, of the two codes, ON the field League is FAR superior, especially given the new game-killing rules Union has just introduced.
But I just can't enjoy it without a side to support and the RFL AND WRU both seem to hate Bridgend.
So good luck to you and your teams, but for the first time in over quarter of a century, rugby is no longer a part of my life.
(The usual suspects are very welcome to come on here and deride the post, but I won't see it because I'll be gone and if I can figure out how to delete my account it'll be gone too.
Bye Rugby League, it's been a fun few years.
All the best,
Grendel

| I am sorry that it came to this and I can't say that I blame you. The RFL are so desperate to get a viable Welsh franchise that they don't mind how many dead bodies they have to walk over to get it.
Wrexham Crusaders are a joke. Neath are a joke. It ought to have been Glamorgan Warriors.

| Posts like Grendel's make me so angry. Not at Grendel, but at the situation that caused him to post.
I'm usually one of the first to say that the RFL should do this and the RFL should do that, but for once, I'm at a loss. I want to see RL in South Wales and I really want the result to be that the Welsh national side are competitive, like they were in the early 90s.
Where do we go from here? To bin off South Wales is the biggest lost opportunity. It's not like Gateshead or Paris. People LOVE their rugby down there. Time would have sorted it all out.

| The RFL are an embarassment in terms of governing bodies or whatever you call them.
And people wonder why we are so far behind rugby union. Its because we have retards running our game.

| We would all love to see RL in South Wales-sadly there appears to be no backer- The RFL is no charity
It appears the RFL pushed the franchise through on the back of one benefactor who now seems to have pulled his backing- a risky game to play-I’m sure(you would hope) the RFL undertook a risk review when granting the Crusaders the franchise and have been let down.
As with all decisions you get winners and losers-The losers in this case seem to be the loyal fans in and around Bridgend

They took a massive gamble and it (predictably) collapsed. The RFL have let down the sport.

Its sad that it has got to this stage, i hope you will continue to support rl in some capacity (you'd be welcome to support cas anyday mate, and i'm sure many other teams would value your support.) could i just ask why you wont be supporting the neath team my knowledge of welsh geography isnt great but i thought it was just down the road? i know you are p*ssed of with the rfl (been there done that mate) but you could try giving the neath team a chance if they are willing to develop local rl and be a side that will put down roots in south wales.
Obviously its your call, i had rather hoped that many of the disgruntled cc fans would switch there alliegance to the new team (which i had hoped would be at bridgend as its a good place for rl teams to visit and would mean some continiuty) giving it a solid foundation to grow from.
dont stop believing mate.

| As i have posted on another board...that's me finished with RL.....it's turning into a circus, it's totally ridiculous and becoming a laughing stock of sport.
Challenge cup kicked off protected list, RL downgraded to the B category, the licence system is a joke, GB/Eng are incapable of winning.....
I feel for the Welsh supporters....I hope any merchandise bought or season tickets are refunded and a letter of apology sent to you, apologising for stabbing Welsh RL in the back.
small minds for a small "regional" sport. The RFLs bigger picture can be viewed on a postage stamp !!!!

No it hasn't. It's been recommended in a review that it should be removed.

| Been there but refuse to spit the dummy. I love RL and as much as i want a home town team to support I still enjoy wayching the amateur game, the kids and the NRL on TV. RL has a history of poor management, if fans walked away everytime something happened they didn;t like the game would be long dead by now!

| Would those berating the RFL as the supposed villains in this piece like to put forward proposals for what they could have done to prevent this move and retain a SL club in South Wales - other than throw a shedload of cash at it and hope it comes off?
Or is it just easier to sit back and blame everything that goes wrong in the sport on the RFL rather than looking at why rugby league is still a small-time, small-town game?

And how would that have retained a SL club in South Wales? If the RFL hadn't been happy with the financial side of the franchise application and refused the Crusaders, do you think Leighton Samuel would have stuck around for another three years in a semi-pro competition?

It would have been a lot easier for a South Wales based consortium to pick up the pieces once he had cleared off.

Try reading the original post.
Can sympathise entirely with the original post, and have felt like jacking it in myself over recent years, the sport truly does feel like a circus. In fact, I dare say if it wasn't for the fact I've spent the past 17 years of my life watching Leigh every weekend, I'd have buggered off. In the past I used to watch a Super League game (live, not on the TV) every weekend, either at Saints, Salford, Warrington or Wigan, whereas this past two years I've barely even watched games on the telly.

Well said.
I will support rugby league no matter what.
I was a rugby league fan before in an armchair capacity and will continue to watch the game live where I can. Some people prefer to turn away from the game, others prefer to keep at it and keep going. Each to their own but I'm still supporting our club and hope they get rid of Mike Turner so we can run it with a bit of efficiency. If Wrexham isn't working then I hope they have the sense to get the club back to South Wales as soon as possible.

| Half of me wants to get my season ticket back to show solidarity with the South Wales based fans and half wants to stay behind the club.
I am also not sure whether I just want to save money and get behind the Neath club even if it is a feeder club to Crusaders. I would much prefer it if the club was independent and based at Bridgend as I feel Brewery Field Limited were the best people for the job, but if that is the best opportunity to watch rugby league then that is about my easiest option.
Not sure what to do. Crusaders offering money on season tickets back in letters by all accounts. Can think of a lot to respond with and will cross that bridge when the letter apologising for the move come through the post.

Would you watch both clubs, or just one or the other? Personally, I think you should chuck your weight behind the South Wales side and support your region, though if they are to be 'linked' with Wrexham Crusaders then it would kind of defeat in the object in my eyes.
