its started already.
The solution is simple: have a neutral ref - either Williamson or Alibert. If either team objects to that, then the other team should be able to nominate their own.
The other solution is to give Ganson the referee of the year award, afterall, as Sheens says, "we just want the best referee."

| "We just want the best referee" basically translates into "we just want our own referee as per usual".
They refused to play with a nuetral referee at the DW Stadium so we should refuse to play with an Australian referee in the final. We'd be far more within our rights to refuse an Australian ref against Australia then they were in refusing an nuetral ref.
We all know whats going to happen though

| Quote "There's obviously some politics being involved here, and in my opinion a lot of it's designed about a much slower game which suits sides when you start to talk about playing Australia," Sheens said.'"
So Sheens is alleging that there is a conspiracy to pick a referee that will disadvantage his team. Do we have a disciplinary any more, because if that isn't bringing the game into disrepute, then I don't know what is.
Quote "There's a panel and obviously the Australians are going to want the best referee, that's all.'"
Really? OK so far Tim . . .
Quote
"It would be disappointing for Shayne and disappointing for the tournament if technically what I would argue is the best refereeing system in rugby league and the referee nominated by us who has been nominated for the referee of the year can't get a game, then something's wrong.'"
Translation: When we nominate an Australian ref., what we are saying is "This is who WILL ref us in the Final, and we spit on all your referees".
Nice logic, Tim!
Mind you, what [iwould[/i have been entertaining is to have 2 on-field referees, and pick Ganson and Hayne. They'd end up scrapping!

| When being interviewed by the BBC [ibefore[/i the French game Sheens was whinging on about the officiating from the previous week.
Australia haven't lost yet despite all these terrible officials who aren't Australian and called Shane Hayne, in fact they seem to have done just fine and topped the group stage of the competition.
And there is no politics at play – it was a coin toss.

It was a double headed coin the RFL actually borrowed from Del Boy off Only Fools and Horses according to Tim Sheens.

No, it would be more like the Australians have the best s, they toss harder than anyone else, they have the World Champion Tos =white[size=9.[/sizeser, holder of the Golden Tissue, and he can't understand why the best tos =white[size=9.[/sizeser in the world wasn't appointed to do the tossing.

| Hayne can't referee, he's not used to the sole referee system that international rugby is played under.

| Sheens has been reading about Alex Ferguson while he's been over here.
Sadly for him, Sheens doesn't have the credentials or reputation of ferguson.
Stop whinging or retire, in fact, the aussies have been toss so he can do both. Ganson's better than Hayne anyway, it's just that Sheens has realised his pack is too soft

I'd guess Lee Smith was involved in a few of them so they don't need to worry about him. He was winding Slater up all day with little digs on the floor.
You'd think they were totally clean mind. Sam Tomkins was getting little sly digs all day long from the likes of Hodges and Gallen.
It's part and parcel of the game the big sheila's

| The first game Hayne reffed he seemed to call Held almost as soon as the players made contact in the tackle - he didn't allow any time for the players to go to ground or offload in the tackle - he seemed far to keen to start the ptb.
If we do get Hayne, there's only one team who this will favour and I can see why the aussies are desperate to get him - nothng at all to do with a few 'sly digs' which they did more than their fair share of.

| There are very few things about our great game that embarrasses me but this is one, the only one I think... to have a 4 Nations final between England and Australia and a perfectly capable New Zealander ready to referee, what the hell is the problem? Neutral referees are accepted in every sport the world over, it’s just plain stupid not to appoint one

| Seems to me the answer is simple. We wanted Ganson, the Aussies wanted Hayne, the Kiwis wanted Williamson. We switch to Williamson, and the Aussies go whinge into their beer, outvoted 2-1.

| It's aus gamesmanship (trying to cheat) at its worst. They whinge before any competition (cricket, RU, RL) about anything they think might not give them an advantage.
Imagine an Australian ref sending off an australian prop in the opening tackle of the game? Never in million years! English refs have bent over backwards to be impartial.
If an australian refs the game we will get penalised for not playing the ball fast enough, for not retreating fast enough, for imaginary high tackles or as the americans call it "unnecessary roughness" etc.. etc.. etc.. In fact all the things that sheens has moaned about. There is no way on earth that an aus ref will give a vital decision against his own country.
They had the advantage in the world cup by slowing down the play the ball and playing to their "interpretation" of the rules and now they want the same advantage again by speeding it back up.
Part of me thinks they are very sad....the other part just gets angry. The RFL should grow some ball$ and tell them to cluck off. Ganson should ref the game.

| Bottom line is the Aussies will never ever fully accept a ref that isn't from the NRL. Which is bloody ridiculous.
