when it was on foxtel it was on live, i have watched the last 2, but with channel nien

running things its just a lottery

I rang Channel Nein Adelaide last week, more in divine hope as I knew what the answer would be. Made me laugh/despair when I was told that they had no plans whatsoever to broadcast it however maybe I could catch it on Foxtel - I had to explain that they had bought it from Foxtel! I explained that despite the AFL brainwashing and total contempt for the game by the SA media there was a strong RL audience out there - especially given the large number of Pommy Barstewards here. So yet another letter off to Ch Nein to be ignored!!

Forgot to complain about cutting off the GF celebrations too - surely the news could have waited a quarter of an hour!

I don't know how advanced towards digital tv Australia is but you've think it'd be like here where our FTA stations (both BBC and ITV) allow you to view every region via our Sky platform which would dissolve this kind of problem. Having said that we get very little regional sport tv so it's not an issue here but for Aussies that would be a huge benefit.

Still I read that Rugby League will go into Perth, Adelaide and Melbourne next year on Grandstand Digital Radio so that's something.

They are all fighting right now to work out how they are going to do sport on TV in Australia.


The free to air networks want to be able to show sports that are protected by the anti siphoning list on their secondary digital channels.

Fox Sports of course is opposed to that, saying its anti competitive. They want any sport thats free to air stations dont show on their main channel to then revert back to them.


At the end of the day the NRL has to make sure that outside of the NSW/QLD markets, its product is shown on the main channel of its broadcaster. Having games played on secondary channels is rubbish.

The ESL is considered to be a competition where our players go to die and get paid heaps for doing so.

Its widely regarded as being less skilful than our park footy.

English players are a joke and even the NRL trying to help out by giving poms like Ellis and that other idiot from Bradford (Burgess??) a run would not increase the interest enough to warrant showing the SL 'grand' final live in Australia
