| Quote The Tigers meanwhile have been active in the player market signing former Panther Junior Moors and Wigan utility Mark Flanagan for next year.
Englishman Flanagan can play halfback, five-eighth and lock and will fill the utility role vacated by John Morris who is off to Cronulla.
"Mark is a raw talent. There is plenty of improvement in him and hopefully under Tim Sheens, we can bring that out," said Tigers recruitment manager Warren McDonnell.
"He is a tough no-nonsense player with a strong work ethic."
The Tigers have an option to extend Flanagan's stay into 2011.
The 22-year-old Flanagan made his first grade for Wigan this year after joining the Warriors in 2007 from Bradford Bulls.
His father, Terry, represented Great Britain four times between 1983 and 1984.'"
Don't they have any jnr development in West Sydney?

| He's mainly going to Australia for personal reasons (his girlfriend is an Aussie) and I think he can prove himself and better himself over there before (hopefully) returning to Wigan as a better player.

| Id be very suprised if he plays first team barr injures.
Similar on the development scale to Jordan Tansey although tbh i think he'll become a much much better player, loads of development still to do.

| Ah, he was fun that kid. Gonna have a good NRL career like Morley, played a couple of games when the Roosters had injuries, went on to have a great time with Newtown, then back in Hull before it even got cold!
You poms, you just fill me with smiles and laughter!

| Roosters recruitment manager Peter O'Sullivan said the decision to allow Tansey to leave was a reluctant one for the club.
"Hull had come in with a really good offer for him, which was financially very lucrative and better than what he was on here," O'Sullivan said.
"Basically, we didn't want to stand in the way of a better deal for himself and we reluctantly let him go."

Actually he was loaned out by Leeds so I doubt he ever intended to stay over there. But feel free to continue using facts selectively.
But I'd be interested in what you think about Morley taking ages to 'make it' in the NRL and Gareth Ellis being the third best 2nd rower in his first season there. Obviously a sign that SL is just a park footy competition.

| Morley took about two and a half years to get up to speed and he is the best English player of the last 30 years.
As for Ellis, I dont feel the need to double over and spasm like the media does over a Pommy player in the NRL, so I actually just judge them on how they actually play.
Considering he was one of the better forwards in a terrible, undersized, soft forward pack for a non finals team, in attack he worked hard but didn't have impact, and that in defense he was bloody clueless......yeah he did well.
One player in all of England can put his hand up right now and currently say he could just about survive the 2009 NRL season.
A clear sign that England is superior!

| Morely is without question the best England player of the last 30 years.
As for this other bloke, don't know, don't really care. I hope he enjoys getting Benji Marshall autograph and seeing what a big league is like, and I hope he enjoys the trips to shell Wenty Leagues and Windsor.

Correct. He spent a year at Halifax last year so this should set him up nicely for the NRL.

Its been said many times on here and indeed on similar sites
Ellery Hanley was one of the most over rated players EVER.
He was built up by the pommie media to be a legend.
And yet Terry 'Baa Baa' Lamb showed him up for the average wannabee he really was.

| Quote ="littlerich"He took a flagging Balmain side to the GF. The weekly playoffs involving Balmain was like watching a movie - portrayed as such by the Aussie media not the British one. The Black Pearl took all the headlines in Rugby League Week. He carried Balmain to that GF with his immense skill. You're just another dull Pommie basher. Bashing for the sake of it. The illigitimate son of League Freak. What a claim to fame

I think what you really mean is that he was in a Balmain side containing such legends of the game as Benny Elias and Paul Sironen.
Hanley was very average.

That's not how the Aussie media played it at the time. How old are you? Were you even born then or are you just pretending that he was probably crap? I can only go on what was portrayed at the time. I saw most of the play-offs that year thanks to Micron Video. He seemed pretty influential to me.
