The point is we're in raptures over just one article like this.

Imagine how the game's profile and sponsor's base would improve if the nationals and broadsheets gave us such treatment on a daily basis ?

I get the Observer every week because its a great paper - in every respect expect its rugby league coverage and I was disgusted with its effort this weekend.

A pi55poor photo of Matt King leaping for a high kick, rather than some proper action or one of the trophy lift, and the usual drab, uninspiring report from David Lawrensen.

No 'colour' piece and a report that was smaller than a piece on rugby bloody union. Don't tell me there's no conspiracy .....

And don't bother EVER searching for a RL feature in the Observer Sports Magazine Monthly.

There was a feature on Russel Crowe and his South Sydney plan but that's about it!

Although there was a fairly damning piece on rah-rah in there at the weekend (Guardian or Observer, not OSM).

You're right though.

They did a feature on Salford's Cheerleaders either last year or the year before, which is probably the closest they got.

(I only buy it for the Azed crossword).

The day League can get an article about how good it is without having to compare itself to other games is the day it finally becomes anything other than the minority sport it is

In fairness to the Torygraph it's coverage of RL is usually pretty good anyway (comparitively to the rest of the main print media).

I found the suggestion that yawnion used to be the bastion of amateurism & "Officer class self-regulation" was all that was needed, to be vomit-inducing to put it mildly.
