| Just broke on sky sports news
Also, the gap between last years and the 2013 is so the world cup doesnt collide with the olympics and then it will be every 4 years. Smart thinking if you ask me, for once.
There will be some amazing venues for that world cup with the rfl pushing clubs to upgrade facilities.

| Whats a potential list of stadia then?
Wigan
Hull
Huddersfield
Widnes
Doncaster
Certainly all a good size for group games, Elland Road/Old Trafford/Wembley maybe for semis/final depending on moaning football gets.
I think that internationals have to be played at all seater stadia, or have I made that up?

| Well the RFL are banking on new grounds at Cas, Wakefield, Celtic and St Helens by then, so there could be a whole host of venues.
I'd definately look to host some matches in London, probably at the Stoop as QPR's ground is a scruffy hole.

| Leigh, Doncaster, Wigan, Widnes, Warrington, Leeds, Hull, Harlequins, Halifax, Catalans, then potentially, Saints, Salford, Oldham, Bratford, Barrow, Cas, Wakey, Hull KR and Celtic.
Looks really good for stadiums with maybe the semis/final at Old Trafford, Wembley, Olympic Stadium, Eastlands or Elland Road?

I've not heard that as they played an international at saints acouple of years ago.
The new saints stadium would be good as it will be very easy to get to, but it wont beall seater

| The RFU will announce if their bid to host the world cup will also be announced today which is a shame as it could over shadow this PR opp.

| The BBC were fawning over the fact that today was the day that Union chose their next world cup host on the news this morning, in typically over-the-top manner, hyping up a non-story by telling us about all of the exotic nations that were competing for the right to host it.
This is exactly the sort of media-spin that League has been unable to exert throughout history.
With all this in mind, the timing of the announcement of the 2013 World Cup could not be better as it capitalises on the publicity already afforded to the Union announcement. For once, someone seems to have shown some publicity skills, and has used an external factor as a vehicle to promote the game.
Well done.

| This is a terrible decision.
The 2008 World Cup was a competition that was able to embrace all of the communities that are growing the game at a fast rate.
I attended a number of games and the ability for people from Tonga, Samoa, PNG, New Zealand, Australia and the like to be able to support their nation was something that should have been allowed to grow with another competition in Australia.
The 2008 WC was the most profitable and well run in the competitions history. The fact it was played in a time zone with the most Rugby League fans, the biggest Rugby league TV aduience and the biggest number of regular Rugby League sponsors should have been taken into account.
This is a really, really bad decision. This news makes me really sad for the opportunity the game will have missed.

Yes because Robbie Kearns speaks for a nation.
I like France. When ever we want to have a big bike ride of fight a war and know the locals will to too busy eating stinky cheese to get involved....there it is.

I was on the London Eye once and an American tourist in my capsule mistook the 750 foot tall television mast at Crystal Palace (around 8 miles away) for the Eiffel Tower, exclaiming "Oh my God! We can see all the way to Paris from here!"

There is nothing to stop the NRL arranging for a developing nations tournament to run at the end of this year or next, involving the Indigenous Australians, Maoris, Tonga, Fiji, Samoa etc.
That is what they should be looking at if they are genuinely concerned over the development of the international game.......

| unless the rfl make ticket prices affordable, £10-15 for adults £5 for children and concessions if stadiums like the kc, jjb, galpharm are chosen, then it will be a failiure. the rfl have a history of hiking up ticket prices for major internationals, £40 when aus/nz played gb at the kc to sit in my regular seat
