Schofield has no credibility. If he is describing Scott Gibbs (who probably did as much as anyone to get Saints that inaugural SL title) as a 'cross-code failure', not to mention Inga and Scott Quinnell then he should stick to what he is best at.

Schofield talks b@ll@cks. I cannot be parched going into it or be bothered trying to get a copy of RL world but to say that players who play between 2 and 7 games of RL get serious injuries and then retire wre rubbish is down right wrong.


Terry Holmes was a very very good player at RU. He however had a dodgy shoulder i think he dislocated it 3 times and had to have it operated on. He was advised to give up playing all RUGBY or face permanent damage. A waste of money yes. the worst decision by a club chairman to buy him probably, the worst player NO.

for the sake of balance how many top line RL players of recent years have gone to RU and made a success of it

Jason Robinson - certainly , Iestyn and Faz - possibly - but plenty who havent

different games with different demands simple as that which have grown bigger with full time professionalism in both games

Plenty of the old RU men swapped over well - Boston , van Vollenhoven, and how about Keith Fielding , Dai Watkins , Maurice Richards and anyone remember a certain Martin Offiah - the famous quote from the Saints board that he was " an un co-ordinated clown " when he was playing for Rosslyn Park - hmmmm - 501 tries was it he scored in RL

He mentions that he doesnt think any ru players would do well in league. I tend to disagree to an extent. There are a few in the Welsh side for example who would do really well, such as Rhys Williams, Tom Shanklin and a forward of theirs who's name escapes me.

How do you define the "worst" player?

I have seen some terrible players, some who can't catch, can't tackle, can't run, can't see gaps (oops sorry that's the England WCC team).

Seriously that is an impossible thing to define unless there is an agreed standard of worst and to achieve that is subjective.

He was pretty damn good when he was given a chance by a forward looking team

Still holds records at the club and came within a post width of getting us promoted by right to what became SL.

But when Moran was at London he was a fantastic player.
Richie Mathers was a good player while at Leeds as well.

Hard to define "the worst" player ever to play rugby league. Gary's remarks about Rugby Yawnion players like Inga and Scott Quinnell being poor players are just daft. They were both brilliant while at Wigan.

Martin Offiah (albeit briefly), Billy Boston and Jonathan Davies just a few off the top of my head who have started off in Union then switched to league and have had very good careers and have gone down as legends of our game.
