| As a wire fan I will say Wigan v saints, great games to watch with the odd shocker thrown in 75-0
No disrespect to the other derbies, which probably are exciting to the two sets of fans, as a neutral the games don't always match up to the Wigan Saints derby
Hopefully next year the wire will get its traditonal Good Friday fixture back and the rivalry can continue with the chemics, how I've missed that

| If HFC and HKR were in the succesful position of St's and Wigan the KC would sell out weeks before the game, given neither team have been challenging for years the fact they still get 20k should tell you were the true passion for a derby lays.

I quite like east Yorkshire although I'm not a big fan of the city of Hull itself.
I lived in the area for a while.

| Recently the best derby has been Wigan/Saints without a doubt, the rugby on show is generally to a good level and games are usually close. I would then say Leeds/Bradford again due to their history in the Super League. Our derby games are generally poor efforts with little skill on show. The passion is definitely there but as a spectacle they have been pretty dull for neutrals.
Of course there are exceptions to all of these derby games.

You have hit the nail on the head by saying 2 sucessful sides- that's the reason you think the Wigan/Saints is the best 'derby'. When the two Hull sides are at the right end of the table there would be absolutely no doubt about the biggest derby in RL. As for more 'history' you must be new to the game!

New to the game why?
Wigan v Saints have played many, many finals and semi-finals against each other. The game has history unrivaled by any other game.....
The Hull derby has not been played in the top flight for so many years.
Wigan and Saints are not only the two most succesful sides in the history of the game in this country but they are also two of the top teams now.
A derby like this takes years of building.

| Crusaders and Huddersfield is the one I always clear my schedule for. Two teams with so much hatred and history with each other, it's always a hard-hitting, glorious spectacle and a true advert for our wonderful game.

Sorry mate you are wrong.
Saints v Wigan is the biggest Derby because of the history and the success that both clubs have had in their long and illustrious past.

Eamonn McManus ahead of the 2010 Super League Grand Final reveals that “Lord Derby, whose family have had a long and supportive association with the Club, came to the last Saints’ league game at Knowsley Road, and told me that his family formally lent their name to two sporting events only - the horse race and the original St. Helens v Wigan game. I think that puts pay to which is the biggest derby in sport, as this is the original and only derby."
Also since when is a "derby" only contested between teams within the same city?

| I think its great we have the Hull derby in the easter period now.
Saints v Wigan is usually accepted as the biggest derby, even by none biased yorkshire fans.

| In answer to the OP the biggest derby in my opinion is the Hull derby because I'm a Hull fan, and in that respect it means the most to me personally. Most fans would say the same about their own - it's the local rivalry which makes it big for every fan.
As a neutral Wigan v Saints will naturally be of most interest and therefor 'biggest' at the moment because it contains the two most successful teams of this era but to say one is inherently bigger as an absolute is untrue. The Hull derby used to be because we used to be the best (ah how times change!) and who is to say in the future something like Warrington v Widnes won't draw the most neutral interest and be the biggest.

| Best derby? Batley v Dewsbury.
Although the forthcoming Falkirk v Cumbernauld game in the RLC should be pretty good.

| Clearly it's St Helens v Wigan.
2 decent sides who play some great RL and have a good fan base.
Were all those Hull FC fans still 'boycotting' the fixture in protest over Richard Agar?
They insist it's not actually a 'boycott' though... they are saying they are merely staying away from any home fixtures and not buying merchandise until Agar resigns or is sacked.
See?
It's not a boycott at all really is it.

Hey I'm only going by what some people on the Hull FC forum are saying.
I've read quite a few posts from people who are not going to another home fixture or buying any merchandise until Agar has gone.
Their choice I suppose.
