Do you not think that would be slightly unfair to the travelling Hull fans to have it on your doorstep?

Not quite as unfair as the 1986 semi AND replay for rovers and leeds which were both at elland road!!!

Is it Thursday you say?
They'd have 4 days if the cup semi is on Sunday. If we're in it then we'd have 5 days if it was the Saturday but will have obviously already played our fixture before making the most important game (the semi) a short turnaround.
TV will decide anyway.

| wire v hull should be in Yorkshire, Halifax, leeds or Huddersfield
the other one could be Doncaster or somewhere in the midlands to make it truly neutral
but knowing the RFL one of the "Lancashire" teams will get a "home" tie at st Helens/warrington/Salford.

We managed to play Leeds away on the Monday night before playing Warrington at Magic Weekend in the Saturday fixture so cant see that being an issue. If Hull v Warrington is to be held at Huddersfield as said above, I had heard the Galpharm would be unavailable for the Saturday (football I think) so may have to be their game on Sunday

| The Semi finals of the Challenge Cup should be an event, it should be planned in advance and be at the same place every year.
The same with the 1st round of the play-offs, it should be a 2 day, 4 game event which everyone knows about at the beginning of the year, at neutral grounds, and planned and marketed from a year ago.
They should be traditional events rather than a game planned at the last minute at some ground in the middle of the heartlands with a half-d marketing and half-d attendance.
The RFL should be spending time and money making these types of games events and getting 50k at St James’ Park for a double header first round of the play-offs, filling Anfield every year for a double header challenge cup final rather than ing about switching between 12 and 14 every few years and fannying about trying to shoe-horn P+R into the game like it will solve any of its ills.

No. Firstly, playoffs require home/away advantage at present so neutral venue doesn't work.
Secondly, people need to get it out of their heads that double header events would be a solution to these types of games and the attendances. The fact of the matter is, the majority of fans (especially those with young families) couldn't care less about arriving early, or staying behind after a win or loss, to watch another game- and these games won't benefit from the neutrals like the Magic Weekend event does.
Attempting to fill a large stadium for a double header will, in reality, equate to a crowd of 10-20k at both games in a 40k stadium. And I dread to think of the backlash on here then.

| 6pm kickoff on the Sunday for Hull-Warrington.
Bumper day for publicans in the Huddersfield area. Amazed if West Yorks Police have been consulted and agreed to that kickoff time.

When clubs aren’t getting appalling attendances for their play-off first round games then they may have more of an argument, but whilst they are doing such a p1sspoor job selling tickets. F@ck em.

Where is your evidence for this? Why would large proportions of fans go all the way up to Newcastle for 80mins turn around and come back? I don’t think that is what would happen, I would think that firstly, it would attract more neutrals to attend who would watch both games, it would a day/weekend out with RL only a part of it. Secondly I would expect a large proportion to be organised group trips, and less formal groups of mates going up for the games, then on the lash in Newcastle
Regardless A 20k attendance for a first round play-off game would be a massive improvement from where we are so im not sure what the backlash would be if we got two of them.

Same reason any fans go to any away games ever To support [utheir [/uteam.
You're probably right, it would attract more neutrals and parties going 'out on the lash' afterwards.
Personally I'd rather have a smaller crowd with a stadium full of fans of both of the teams in action - it provides a much better atmosphere. But each to their own - I understand your argument..

Besides, there isnt currently a good atmosphere at first round play-off games, they are dead, played in pretty small stadiums, in front of very small crowds.

| A disgraceful decision......but no doubt the pundits on `Back Chat` and B&A will come up with sufficient bull **** to justify the decision. Clearly the RFL want to make sure that they get their Wire v Wigan final and are prepared to offer every assistance no matter how it looks......it`s for the good of the game don`t you know.

| I have no problem with a challenge cup semi-final involving London and an M62 team being played up north. But Leigh - seriously?! Warrington, Salford would not have been better bets?!
Baffling.
