| Huddersfield is far to big for any semi final in Yorkshire with the crowds people are currently drawing.

Not really if they priced it appropriately. There have been plenty of adequately attended semis there in recent years.

| Yeah the prices are ridiculous. I was run moaning about the venue been too small. But i guess i was wrong. It's stupid having the quarters, semis and final all in space of 5 week. Plus it's the holiday season. Not making excuses, just can see why the attendances aren't as high as they should be.

| Final prices are just as bad.
Totally wrong timing. 2 weeks between QF & SF, both of which are extra expense on one months wage.

I think the big problem is that clubs have a fortnight to sell semi final tickets, and then final tickets on sale within 48 hours of the semi's. With no concessions for the final I think it's only to be expected that those with families etc may have little choice but to sacrifice going to the semi's and watch it on telly instead so that they can save money for the final.

| Are people seriously complaining about ticket prices? £20 is cheap for a high quality game of RL and the best seat in the house is only £28
don't people save up anymore? you don't have to spend every penny you have as soon as you get it - put a few quid aside if you want to go to the game, then if your side doesn't make it spend it elsewhere, or save it for the play-offs/next year

Exactly, the Wigoon club is always good value, Match tickets at DW almost half the price of Halliwell Jones £28 tickets. The scheduling of the cup rounds is rubbish semi finals and final too close together, also giving very little time to plan the trip to Wembley with the finalists.
Sometimes I think the RFL want to "big" the superleague and belittle the traditional challenge cup.

I am a student without a job. My income is a student loan at the moment. You expect people like me to afford £20 plus travel and drinks etc.?
What about pensioners who have a choice between the semi-final or the final? Which would you choose put in that situation.
How about a husband and wife with 3 kids, that is a very expensive day out when you might get to the final.
The RFL's job is not to encourage people to save up, it is to improve the sport in this country, one way they can do it is by putting bums on seats.
Half the price of the tickets and put it in a stadium twice as big. Make it easy for the fans to get tickets. Let people pay on the gate. Advertise the game. Lets make semi-finals the huge event they deserve to be.

Not sure I agree. £20 isn't expensive for a semi final. Just look at the prices people pay to watch wendyball for a bog standard game, think around £100 for ticket, pie and a pint at some places.

It is when a) the cheapest ones available to the pie eaters were £22 b) it's £33 just an adult and child (with kids even aged 3-5 having to pay £11) and c) when you're going have to fork out for cup final tickets the following week to make sure you get one. The scheduling of the Challenge Cup as a whole is an absolute farce as far as I'm concerned.

We get a student loan after Easter, in May this year. If that's your only income it makes not difference whether the game is in June or August, you need to budget for it.
People just look for an excuse not to go to games, if you want to go you will make sacrifices.

I am still going.
What I am saying is that we need to make it as easy as possible for people to go if the sport is going to get bigger.
Am I the only one who wants to see semi-finals infront of 30k?

Your average football fan is not the same as your average rugby fan.
Football fans paying that much are usually United, Chelsea and Arsenal fans. They can afford it. Loads of them are either loaded or 20-40 year old men with no wife and kids because they have spent all their time following their team.

if you're a student you can get a half price ticket. £11 is hardly extortionate and nobody is forcing you to have a drink. If you can't manage 80 minutes without some kind of alcohol intake then you have bigger problems than your student loan. On the other hand it might explain where your student loan is going and why you can't afford 11 quid to watch your team in a major game.
Quote ="Odemwingie"What about pensioners who have a choice between the semi-final or the final? Which would you choose put in that situation.'"
Pensioners get a discount for the semi-finals and could get a ticket for the Cup Final at £10. My dad is delighted.

Or by increasing income that can be spent on grassroots projects.

I don't drink at the rugby and I don't drink when I go out at uni either.
But there are other costs involved than just the ticket. I am still going but I bet a lot of people won't.
We need to make our sport as easy to get to as possible and market it properly.
