| Quote ="vastman"Wilkes isn't and wasn't garbage - it was your club that was garbage at the time, grow up. If signing a good journeyman like Wilkes and a freak blow out score is your worst moment my heart bleeds, really
'"
Here's me thinking this thread was about my teams lowest point, sorry if my opinion doesnt suit you. You should mind though you dont fall off that high horse of yours, you might hurt yourself
Of course we were garbage, that was the point ffs and I thought it was pretty clear, maybe it was just beyond your intelligence. We also lost 70-0 against Leeds, so the Saints game was hardly a freak blow out, and had record defeats in consecutive weeks. We were also routinely losing against mediocre sides, which we ourselves had become, such as Wakefield. We had lost some pretty world class players such as Lam and they were replaced by the likes of Jordan James and Oliver Wilkes who we signed from Championship clubs and who were no where near good enough. Your description of Wilkes, a 'good' journeyman, says it all. His long and illustrious history of clubs include Keighley, Leigh, Whitehaven,Widnes, Harlequins and Wakefield so he must obviously be a true superstar in anyones books . I am sorry but for a top club he was a garbage signing and was completely out of his depth, obviously you just have much lower standards. The whole Millward era as a whole was very poor and was a farce from start to finish and almost saw us relegated. One the field it was the worst spell I have ever seen from a Wigan team.

| Quote ="MjM"The first season was sort of fun - sorted the men out from the boys amongst our fickle fan base
And that season and a half under Lance included a Challenge Cup final, the club's longest unbeaten Super League run and a vintage demolition of St Helens at Knowsley Road. It wasn't all bad.
Lowest individual point for me in the last 25 years of watching Leeds would probably be 11 January 1992 - the Regal Trophy Final disembowelling by Widnes. As a kid it was a shock to suddenly learn there was nothing heroic about my heroes - they were losers, weak and spineless and gutless
'"
What he said. Didn't go to the final against Widnes but it was the first final I watched featuring Leeds, and I was inconsolable. The worst final performance ever from Leeds in my time, unless you counted the premiership final we lost against Wigan, and possibly the Warrington one of 2010. Sadly there have been plenty to choose from!

| Having only started watching Saints from 91 I've not really had any real low points, Yes losing 5 grand finals is/was disappointing but i was never really low? Too many high's really? Lucky to follow the Saints?
Losing 75-0 must be bad though

| Quote ="Gallanteer"In game terms, losing 2-1 at home to Barrow on a water logged Craven Park pitch. Both teams came off covered in mud and couldn't tell the difference between them. All points scored were from drop goals. Very painful.
But overall, it still has to be Wilby trying to buy us to close us down in the 90's which led to near collapse of Rovers. Plus the ever present shadow of Merger. The Allams hinted at it again recently, although thankfully Hudgell and Pearson seem to realise the strength of the rivalry.'"
Really??
I remember losing 1-0 to Barrow and beating York 2-0

| Losing 0-1 at home to Barrow on a mudbath...losing at Doncaster in the challenge cup in the late 80s...the last few games in 95 after the mergers had been announced & it looked like the club was finished...letting 70 odd in at Halifax when we were down to 10 players just after half-time & finished with 9

| The start of Super League and forced relegation, this was the point where sport began to take second place and the "product" became moer important and on field performance ceased to matter, never mind the poor souls in the Championship who had their future prospects blocked.

| another big low point for me was losing to fev at wembley in 1983. the loss to rovers in 1980 i could take easier, as there was no real favourite in that game and it was a pretty close if poor quality affair. however we went into the fev game as massive favourites having just won the league and they just avoided relegation. add the manner of the defeat in - dubious challenge on our scrum half resulting in his early loss with injury, and a stupid penalty given away with just 2 minutes to go. yes that one hurt, we had a great chance to finally win at wembley and blew it. 30 years on almost, and we are still waiting.
and yes i'm still bitter

The poor souls who if they actually stopped moaning for 5 minutes and blaming everyone else could spend some time developing their club and realise SL is an achievable goal.

| As a Keighley fan, where do I start?
Being denied promotion to Super League after winning the 2nd division because Sky wanted a London team in.
Going bust twice.
Watching loads of fans going to support Br*dford after they copied the Cougarmania model and built one of the best sides of the last 20 years off the back of it.
Talk of us moving to Burnley and being called Pennine Cougars, by an owner who had a particularly shady background.
Getting an almighty pasting in front of the Sky cameras at Fev because someone at the club thought it'd be a good idea to play the game at 2 days notice because Toulouse couldn't travel over because of the Iceland volcano and it was our bye week.

| The fire sale last year was painful, however 86-0 against a certain club whose name I can't remember at
the minute was VERY VERY painful. I was only young and was totally gutted.

To be fair, some fans of certain clubs are blessed having only watched continued success in recent years due to their age.
As a Huddersfield fan, you’re well up there in the league table of disappointments, however, still not near the top of the pile.
Your club is on the brink of actually winning some major silverware, surely as fans that’s what it’s all about. There are other clubs in S.L who’ve been through similar disappointments who are still light years from seeing their club captain lifting a trophy.
It’s the clubs supporters outside Superleague I admire the most, the Swinton’s, Keighley’s, Doncaster’s et al, who’ve had decades of despair with no light at the end of the tunnel.
But on the playing front, I’m adamant Wakefield supporters, of a certain age, hold the high ground regarding low points, two words.
Don Fox .

| As a Cas fan for over 30 years the two relegations, and Cup upsets against lower lge opposition would seem obvious.
But to me it was losing the Challenge Cup semi final to London in 1999, a final appearance that year with the interest and income it generates could of set the club up for years and prevented some of the above.

| Leigh seasons 93-98.
Poor coaches, really poor players and gates of 600. Mickey Mouse Chairman didn't help at the time though.
Saying that, also great away days on the brunt of it. Pasting Bradford and Saints in our relegation season 92-93 was bliss, especially doing the conga at Odsal. We expected Bradford to put 80 on us. We cost them the title !!

| Been a Rovers fan since the start of the 94/95 season. My lowest points would be:
* 0-1 at home to Barrow
* The constant merger rumours in 1995
* Initially the news that for the 95-96 and 96 seasons we would be in the third tier of RL. Strangely though I actually enjoyed these seasons greatly when I look back now. I guess it was such a refreshing change seeing us rack up huge scores every week after a poor 94-95 season in the old Division Two.
* Administration in 97 and all the Tim Wilby / Irish investors controversy.
* Losing 6-54 at home to Fev in 98 in a play-off final eliminator after a great season where we finished 2nd and beat eventual champs Wakey three times (inc twice away).
* Losing Stan the Man in 99
* the early noughties which were very dark times for the club
* Going to Whitehaven in 05 to watch us get smashed 0-51. Them then winning at CP weeks later and taunting like you wouldn't believe (he who laughs last and all that though... ).
* Some of our hammerings in SL (and the Cup) recently have also been bad, but compared to years gone by these are easy to cope with.

| Just remembered another - losing the 2004 and 2006 Northern Rail Cup finals to Leigh. The first one was a horrible experience: completely outclassed on the field, and totally outnumbered off it. Though there were very small signs of hope at the time, we still clearly had a long way to go.
The 2006 final was terrible because this time we totally outnumbered them off the pitch but came up short on it. From that day until the day I die I will believe that 'Benefit of the doubt' tries are the biggest load of bollox of all-time.

| As a Wigan fan, my lowest point was Magic Weekend 2008. 35-0 at half time to St Helens before losing 57-16. At truly pathetic response to losing 46-10 at Knowsley Road a month earlier. It summed up Brian Noble's whole reign really at Wigan. He let those kind of results become acceptable and it should never be like that at a club like Wigan. Thank lord that attitude has changed recently.
Catalan Cup Semi 2007 was a close second.
