Rovers had a good turn-out but there were a lot more Leeds fans there, especially in the upper tiers.
To the naked eye there were a lot fewer neutral fans (in club shirts) there than usual. Probably the third most common shirt on show was Hull FC.

| the old wembley's capacity was severely reduced in the mid 90's due to seats being installed on the old terracing, i think the capacity was down to about 76,000 in the mid 90's

I thought that too. As we're playing in London next weekend I could understand Wigan fans maybe not wanting trips to the capital two weeks in a row, but there didn't look anything like the range of jerseys that's been in evidence in the past.

| I saw one or two Wigan shirts . Loads of Leeds , KR , FC , Bradford etc . The one that stood out for me was the number of Hunslet shirts . There was a massive amount of people there that were not wearing club shirts this year .

| Probably a fair guesstimate. Have to say the design of the new Wembley is awesome for keeping the noise in. We didn't have a lot to sing about but made a bit of noise and when the Leeds fans finally started singing their one song in second half it sounded amazing.

The Rhinos actually own the rights to that song, so technically it's not a Leeds utd song.

| The capacity at the old Wembley was reduced in 1988/89; Wigan v Halifax had 94,273 for the 1988 cup final, whereas Wigan v Saints had a suspiciously 'round-looking' 78,000 in 1989.

| Everything about yesterday's cup final was excellent, aside from the game itself.
It had the feel of a big event, the unveiling of the statue, a heart rendering abide with me and an healthy attendance.
As for the game, even as a Leeds fan, I didn't really enjoy it. I enjoyed the result, the records and the achievement and I was pleased for the legends in our team that they did what they did but we all like to see a good game of rugby league.
There are plenty of positives for the game to focus upon from the weekend but I guess Rugby League fans aren't about that are they.

| Whilst there was a lot of noise generated by the crowd and the atmosphere was amazing, I wasn't convinced that there was 80,000 people there on Saturday. There were massive areas of seats available, not just in the top tier but virtually all over the stadium. Lots of the more expensive £50 and £60 seats looked empty.
Indeed, during a conversation over the weekend I was told that the 80,000 attendance from the final potentially included the Club Wembley seats, known by some as the 'ring of indifference'. Apparently, these are considered to be tickets which have been pre-sold and are therefore added to the tally without necessarily having anyone sitting in them.
Do we know this for sure? Can anyone confirm that Club Wembley ticket holders are considered to be attendees, even if they are not there?

The club Wembley seats are included empty or not. I would think the actual attendance will have been 60-62k

The club Wembley seats count whether people turn up or not but disagree with you about empty seats everywhere else they were hardly any in the leeds end and a couple of blocks in the top teir in the rovers end

It won't have been 60k. Apparently there's 18k Club Wembley seats so even if they were completely empty there'd have been at least 62k and they weren't entirely empty.

I think, if they'd put the people in the middle tier into the top tier it wouldn't have filled all the gaps in the top tier. That's why I would've guessed at 62k max. Just my opinion mind, I don't obsess about attendances like some on here!!!

I was of course referring to when it was reduced capacity which was in relation to the post above mine that clearly was talking about the 75.5k Average for the period hence it not looking as empty compared to 80k in a 90k stadium that is completely open to the cameras...do keep up!
I know all about the previous capacity but as that wasn't what we were talking about at that juncture it was obvious to all except the faux anger to wade in without reading the thread types like yourself.

In the pubs and on Wembley Way it "felt" like we were there in bigger numbers, but come kick off time it was clear that the Upper Tier at the Leeds end was much fuller than ours. For the purpose of comparison, I'd say there was 5-10k more in the East End than the West. I have to say that I don't have any idea how many we took.

The seats are spread over three tiers: lower 34,303, middle 16,532 and upper 39,165
80,140 minus 16,532 would give you a minimum of 63,608 if zero people bothered turning up in the middle tier.. But the CW seats had more people in them than I was expecting. So for example even if CW was 70% empty, then add the 2000 in hospitality boxes and you'd have 70K.

Admittedly only an inexpert guess but 70k is probably about what I'd say if I was forced to guess at the attendance.
Whilst less than some finals in the past, I think it's a reasonable attendance considering the very well attended Grand Final, growing Magic Weekend and the crucial fact that a trip to London isn't anywhere near the same "special outing" it used to be.
I think the earlier rounds and the semi-finals are where we should try and find ways to boost attendances rather than the final at the moment.

| You cannot blame the Hull KR loss on one player alone, but it is also true that Kieran Dixon's gifting of tries and possession to Leeds made the game more one sided than it should have been.
