| Agreed with the posters mentioning Simon Haughton. A massive talent who could of been the best second rower in the world.
Such a shame he had no real desire to play Rugby League.
Karl Pryce is another, and its annoying watching him, he has so much abilty yet he simply looks like he can't be d.

How was Newton a wasted talent - he had a great career, it was the end of his career that was a sad waste.

Spot-on.
Always lived life on the edge, but really knuckled down at Hull KR and was a genuine colossus in their promotion-winning season.
Returned a few months later for Super League pre-season training looking like he had eaten Jarrod Hickey and was promptly shown the door, despite scoring on his only Super League appearance!
Could have been anything he wanted!
For different reasons, Hull KR stalwart Paul Fletcher never came close to fulfilling his potential either.
Easily had the talent to play for Great Britain but was too loyal for his own good.

| Some players have wasted talent and just don't make the impact on the game that they should due to poor application. Some just never fulfil the promise that they show at schoolboy and U20 level
I remember that Paul Noone was going to be the next Sculthorpe and captained England at U18 I think. Not a wasted talent, just didn't really progress from talented youth player into top SL player

Try watching decent RL team from time to time, you might learn something about quality players.
If a player deserves to be in an international squad then surely he is world class.

| One man for whom the hugely talented but ultimately doomed, drinking, clubbing, wenching, fighting the police and general nuttiness bill, could have been written, was the one and only Green Vigo. Had he knuckled down he'd have had legend status.

Is the entire USA RL team world class?
England have a team full of international players with a couple of World Class players, Australia have a team of World Class players with a couple of international players!! Thats why we have beaten them in ages!
For example Jack Reed is International standard but Greg Inglis is World Class or possibly even a class above that.

| Before S.L. a lad called Steve Goby scored hundreds of points in junior Rugby,
signed for Bradford & then moved to Saints I think, but certainly never realised his
potential.
More up to date what about Mark Calderwood or Gareth Rayner?

Marvin Golden was the opposite of a wasted talent. Made absolutely the most (even if that wasn't very much) of very, very limited ability.

| Marcus Vassilakopoulos was definitely a wasted talent.
Many good judges rated him the best ever junior talent ever to come out of Hull, and they were largely vindicated when he was playing in a Challenge Cup Final for Leeds at just 17.
Within two or three seasons, he was warming the bench for Sheffield Eagles!

| In Paul Kings testamonial programme (think it was in that) Brian Noble GB coach at the time, stated that if he could have shown the same committment as if my memory serves me right Peacock that he would have been a GB regular. Instead he loved his local and cigs to much, shame, now i think hes at York.

Of course not. That would mean that Darrell Goulding isn't world class, and we all know he is because he's played for England, which is apparently the definition.
