| Never understand why the RFL hold matches at places like London and Cardiff and then don;t do all they can to fill the place with locals.

Well their plan has been to sell £10 tickets for a spell way before the game, only open one tier which means only £35+ tickets are left and do no marketing work in the south to promote the game meaning the crowd will no doubt be 95% made up of people from the heartlands.
Unless they pull something out of the bag in these next couple of weeks they may as well have taken these fixtures to Manchester or Liverpool.
Strange set of people down at the RFL.

| 28,000 tickets sold. So 14,000 for each game. An utter embarassment as usual.
Is it perhaps time to just hold our hands up and admit international league has no future? There aren't enough professional leagues to support more than England, Aus & NZ. Why not just admit that is the case and focus on the club game or regional game instead?

14000 for Wales v New Zealand 3 weeks before the game which isnt even been played in Wales is pretty impressive, get us in super league!
Also there was only 23000 when England last played Austrialia over here in the group stage so only 9000 more to match that number

| Still waiting for the big marketing push for this game and the rest of the Four Nations.
Thought it would of come straight after the Grand Final but still they persist with reminder emails and ad's in Rugby League World, League express etc.
The more worrying thing is the game against Leigh isn't sold out. 12,000 capacity and within short distance of Wigan, St. Helens & Warrington. Deary me..

| 28,000 isn't too bad really with nearly 3 weeks to go to the game.
I'd just love to see the RFL really go for it now. Open some more seats up, maybe get another offer on (maybe £20 tickets and good family deals) and set aside a section of seats to give away to kids playing the game in the South.
I'd love to see that sort of push to get us up to 55-60k but in reality I doubt it.

| Agreed. I reckon 40k is on the cards and a lot of people said it would be a decent effort if we got that. Like you say, a big old drive now, get 50k at Wembley, sell out Leigh, KC and Warrington.
Any figures known on ticket sales at these?

| I think the problem the RFL have is if they reduce tickets back to £10, and you brought them when they were £25, you'd be a bit miffed. The RFL really need to get into the schools of London. It's England v.s Australia at Wembley!! Doesn't matter if people don't like that sport, they will go to it. Problem is they probably no idea about the game because the RFL haven't advertised it.

Get to 33k for a kick off then. That will at least look good on the telly and will be a good atmosphere.
Is there no way the top tier could be opened?

| Surely the middle or to tiers can be opened as and when.
If not why the hell are we playing there? We could have got a 33000 crowd on round here.

| when you look at the 45 and 60 quid tickets on the rfl website you can buy 10 and more together in every block. I woud drop the price of them to 25 and 35.

The RFL missed a (nother) massive opportunity here IMO......it should have been £10 tickets all the way, with clubs laying on coaches, train deals agreed with the networks and no stone left unturned in the marketing of this game........as it is, 35-45,000 in a 90,000 seater stadium is going to look pretty shabby to anyone who happens to tune in.
I suspect that this game [urlhttp://www.rfu.com/Tickets/Events/2011_11_26_BarbariansVsAustralia.aspx[/url will get a bigger crowd...and their cheapest seat for an adult is £35.

I was stunned by an eye-catching poster at Baker Street tube yesterday for the double-header. If they're doing this all over London it can only be good.

Also being advertised as a competition on Capital FM.
They're trying, give them that. Maybe the executions a bit out on ticketing, but at least they're giving it a go.

| I've been alerted by a friend to this schools offer[urlhttp://www.quinsrl.co.uk/news/13868.php[/url. (£5 per schoolkid in groups of 10, with a teacher or responsible adult going free).
However, as far as I know, it's only on the Quins website. If it's on the RFL's then it's less than obvious. And I only found it through knowing someone at Quins.
This is the sort of offer that should be on P.E./Sports Teams noticeboards at every London secondary, with a sign-up list to get to at least 10 or 20. It isn't. It's hidden on a club website for those in the know.

| So they need to get it out there.
Its almost as if the RFL deem profits will be greater without the marketing bills for the sake of an extra 10k. Thats the sort of impression I got.

You need a full stadium at these events though. It's a must.
Ok, let's say they take a hit on marketing a few times to get a full stadium, but the atmosphere and mentality a full stadium provides is more important.
If people know these events are in high demand, they are more likely to go.
We fill old trafford and wembley when just 2 club teams play because it's the place to be, they are big events which nearly fill every time.

| The RFL need a top notch marketing team. Sadly they probably don't have the money to fund this.
But there appears to be no clear marketing strategy for this game. Sometimes i think some of the people posting suggestions in this thread could have done a better job if they were given the money and cart blanche a few months ago.
I still think they'll be a decent attendance, but we could have filled wembley and that would have been awesome for this game. England v aus in front of a sold out wembley, nothing better.

| They started so well with the £10 tickets and having it at Wembley.
They should have done the entire top tier and behnd the sticks as £10/£5
Down the sides on lower tier £15/£5
Get Virgin trains and East Midlands and other TOCs sponsoring and promoting the events for free in exchange for Train Ticket discounts and get them to offer match ticket holders discounted train travel
Got into schools and sports clubs earlier and with a bit more determination than an email and leave them to it.
