| I'd let brown do both jobs, why we need a full time coach for 4/5 games a year is beyond me.

| Quote ="AJ Viking"But who else is there? It's worrying really. I think the appointment of Kear would probably be met better than most, but Kear is known for hard working teams that grind out results, is that what England needs?
I didn't know Betts was in RU until then, but we're looking at Ford, Edwards, Betts when they've left league to join union, would union look to league for coaches? '"
How many RL coaches has RU got? A fair few at least, especially as defensive coaches

I think you've answered your own question there.

| Brown has many question marks over him IMO. He's made the Giants solid enough, giving them a ruthless defense and making them play the game a certain way to make them hard to beat. But despite showing promise in the CC semi last year the Giants don't seem to have kicked on this year. They've lost all the big games this season so far and against Saints at the weekend they were far too concerned with slowing the play the ball when they should have been trying to ensure a quick game to utilise their faster backs.

Why don't you apply for the England job - you appear to be all knowing?

Ok, I probably didn't word it well enough. I meant for the England RU international job. Would they look at current RL coaches?

We didn't play as well as we could have yesterday and had too many chiefs and not enough indians on the pitch IMO, including a new half back who the rest of the side are going to have to get used to. We've beaten Leeds and Bradford, both of which are big games. We've absolutely pumped Wakefield and easily beaten Rovers in their own back yards.
The season is only 8 games in but IMO we are clearly a more potent attacking side this season. There are no question marks over Brown as far as I'm concerned.

| Oh for Gods sake......
Brilliant, a Rugby Union club defensive coach with minimal experience of coaching at the highest level in Rugby League. Great thinking RFL.

Maybe they're all trying to secure alternative employment before they're shown the door at their current clubs?

| If I were heading the RFL I would muster as much cash as I could to entice Sean Edwards to the role – a RL legend with a huge competitive instinct, experience of coaching international rugby teams and experience of coaching on an intense tour... apart from anything else, great publicity to have him back in the game. Fair enough, he has been a bit disconnected from the game and the newest coaching technique but in a full time role, he could get up to speed quickly enough

| I think having John Kear in the frame is showing a lack ambition by the RFL, but McDermott, McNamara and Agar?!?!?!? As much as id like to see the back of McDermott at Quins, as an English RL fan I draw the line there. Come on RFL sort it out!

I mentioned this on the Wigan forum, even if we didn't get him as head coach, at least that then sets the standard high for anyone who has/considering applying.

| There is a coach out of contract at the end of this year. A proven winner with international experience. Why his name isnt in the frame im not sure. But Richard Lewis should be moving heaven and earth to try and get Brian Mclennon
