Sky are massively superior, but then again they cover the sport 30-odd weeks a year every year with a regular broadcast crew, not just half a dozen times like the Beeb do.

Generally he comes out with stuff like "Did you know Eddie that 99% of the time when a team scores the first try in a game they are winning the game" or "did you know Eddie that the team that scores the most points during a match wins the game 100% of the time"

I was thinking it constantly throughout the entire game during Dave Woods embarrassing, camp commentary.

BBC's improved tenfold over the last few years, think I remember the rfl making a reference to it in that ofcom report but Sky are way ahead.
A couple of years ago I HATED the beeb's work but an overhaul has brought them up to scratch. Pre game on saturday they were far better than Sky acth

I cringe watching SL these days... Eddie and Stevo are muppets. SKY's coverage of SL is average to say the best. Whats with the computer 'mechanical arm and big screen' that pops up after each try accompanied by that awful SKY music?

I quite enjoyed BBC's pre game for Saturday, looked a lot more polished and proffesional then SKY. Although their commentators are still not the best, it was far easier to swallow then SKY's over the top and at times amature efforts.

I used to like that Ray French bloke as a commentator.

We have a bloke in Australia called Ray Warren ... affectionately known as 'Rabbits'...probably a similar age to Ray French

I don't always agree with what he says but he is definately the voice of RL in Oz

I'm a huge fan of Rabs... losing the touch a bit, but his voice is still great.

You're right Barry, Rabs is Rugby League in Aus.

Hearing Rabs on the radio or TV is one of those sounds that you always associate with being home

Come and listen to Baby Rabs at the Quins. I think he should have been given the announcers job at the Stoop for Aus v NZ rather than that high pitched cretin from wherever who does tehh internationals and cup finals.

the classic thing with ray is when you read those comments you hear them in your head in ray's voice!!!

If you're on about the bloke who does the cup final/grand final im almost certain he used to be the announcer every week at warrington years and years ago. Could be wrong but they sound identical.
