In 2007 he said that he remembered the day when he was watching RL in Mille with his father and that he'd like his stadium to be for both code. He then invited several times the French national team to play in Paris gathering crowds of 7000+.

The man in charge of the RL project is Bernard Laporte former coach of the RU French national team, and former French minister of sports. He said in the press that the project has the backing of the Partouche family, a family of millionaires owning casinos who are interested in rugby. For the moment it is just a project but it clearly sends good signals.

There is also a good junior development in Paris with in particular the Corbeille club in the Paris suburb who won the Elite 2 last year and refused to go up in Elite 1 for financial reasons. They stress on junior development there. In addition, the SF RL would likely use the same formula than the SF RU where the junior development is very important. It would also certainly benefit from the huge pool of young RU players who can't make it to the top 14 in RU and could switch to RL.

One tenure in SL is nowhere near enough to ensure any success is no flash in the pan. This round for Catalans is far more important that 2006-09 for sure. The novelty has worn off. Its sustainability and growth now.

Just like they say to junior players, the most important contract of your career is not your first, but your second.

ill explain to you the concept of a bond :

its only money set aside in case of emergency.

if its a 3 yr bond then after 3 years the RFL can re-assess the situation

if the club are doing well then the bond will be untouched, not requiring addition.

but hey this assumes you actually mean it instead of making up random excuses against expansion clubs

I am not suggesting a bond , just that if the RFL are willing to put another club directly into SL they take appropriate precautions to make sure the people running the club are doing so for the right reasons and have the health of the sport as a priority

over and above income to run a new club to a reasonable standard in SL from scratch for 6 years , that length of time being what a completely new club would need to get established both on and off the field
