Are Huddersfield's away shirts deliberately sh*t or did someone actually think that was a nice kit?

Probably the 1st one - and its not just saved for the away shirts, some of our home shirts in recent years have been horrendous too, we seem to have decided that we are catering for the younger market only rather than everyone.

I know some were for worthy causes but still horrid shirts plus the Denis the menace shirt.

The red and black shirt is better than anything Huddersfield have produced since 2006.

That would be a good Hudds kit if they were the Huddersfield Storm, Lightning or Thunder. It just doesn't make sense why they'd have a lightning bolt otherwise.

for all that last seasons paintball alternative shirt got bagged, it sold well...so they have tried something abit different again.

having said that i dont think i will be buying due to the horrible collar

The home shirt is C&G hoops Daz, so I think it's a little unfair on the club to say they're ONLY catering for the younger market.

I like your home effort this year though.

Agreed, old farts like us who like retro and traditional kits arn't supposed to like it. Just like the god awful music that kids listen to these days.

You can still have an alternative shirt (why are they not called away shirts anymore?) that keeps traditions with your club. Just look at the Saints and Wire kits.

I think them Warrington charity shirts are quite decent considering the colours/style they had to incorporate. Can you imagine if Kooga had to design shirts using those colours schemes? Eyeballs will have bled!

As for Hudds 2013 away shirt I think it's quite alright (except the collar) compared to the 2012 effort. Having said that though, they could've done a plain white shirt with a picture of a dog turd in the middle and it would've still been better than last years away shirt.

called alternative because you dont always play in an away shirt when your playing away, its only when the kits clash.. thr rfl state before the season starts which kit you will wear.

id prefer it to be home and away though and like you say keep a tradition.

look at salfords green one last season...nothing to do with tradition there! infact it was a toss up who got it them or us.

You only wear said alternative shirt away though (unless the away team bring the wrong kit)

Not strictly true - we have wore our away/alternative kits at home on numerous occasions due to sponsorship issues.

Did something change in 2012? There seemed to be a lot of alternate kits worn even when there wasn't a clash.

Some even created a clash. Wigan wearing black and white away at Hull and Widnes for example.

Bulls away is dark purple and white hoops with green trim on the hoops, really good looking shirt.

the use of Charity shirts has increased, Hull wore their 'camouflage' shirt 2 games last year.

some clubs also may have to wear their 'alternative' kit a certain amount of times due to sponsorship deals. Hull are back having different home and away sponsors for the first time in years for example.

The mainly black away kit of Wigan clashed less with Hull's mainly white home kit than Wigan's mainly white home kit would have. Having seen both of them playing in very similar kits at the KC in 2008, it was a much better alternative!

You can barely see hoops from the back, so it just looks like white kit vs white kit!

Well, at least it won't clash, except with a sense of taste and decency maybe.
