| agree, Jerry has been consistent for a few years now, he just hasn't had the media and the wider public banging his drum like the others have.
all the wingers mentioned on here are very good wingers in their own right and it shows the difference, when someone mentioned Karl Pratt and Richard Horne playing on the wing for GB
but, if the team is truly picked on form then it's who is McGillvary's wing partner

| I agree McGillivery should be very much in the hunt, but it's not about form/tries....wingers can score 15 tries a year just from strolling in unopposed in the corner.
It's more about his style. The Southern Hemisphere teams are physical so having two wingers like Hall and McGillivery doing roles like forwards is the biggest reason why you could include him, not that he has X amount of tries. I still maintain that had he played on Leeds left wing this year then McGillivery would at best only levelled Hall's try total.

Because it's not like Hall has been bombing chances or being knocked into touch when near the line.
A winger largely relies on his tries coming from being created for him, we haven't done that for him so we won't have done it for McGillivery. How many of McGillivery's tries are due to the work of his teammates inside him?
Hall only scored 7 tries in his last 15 games in 2013, he then went on to score 8 in 5 WC games. Since the arrival of Moon (not a real wingers centre) and the departure of Webb who use to create a lot of the tries down our left side then Hall's try totals have dipped quite a bit.

| At least this is a positive debate rather than which of our wingers is the least bad. If we could have the same debate about the rest of the team we'd be in with a real shout at international level.
For me the only no-no is Charnley, simply because he lacks physicality running the ball out in defence which is absolutely vital.

I agree on Charnley, he style is ok at SL when he can run in a bucket load of straight forward tries. Against international opposition you need to have these big wingers, so McGillivery is a real option (his supporters need to calm down though in having to downplay others to help big him up). Along with Charnley I'm not sure Makinson is 'physical' enough for International rugby.

for some weird reason, huddersfield fans seem to be using our decline and their current ascension as some sort of barometer of their success.

not really no,we are using the fact that we are 3rd, and the form team in SL and have only lost 3 out of 18 games, as usual we are going under the radar and that suits us just fine.

| Huddersfield fans are definitely getting a bit giddy. Which is strange given that we are approaching the point in a season when they invariably collapse.

| McGilvary and Hall for me. I might have said Briscoe up until Saturday; that match resurrected some ugly failings that I thought he'd largely eradicated from his game.

Are you talking about defensive positioning by chance? It's the one failing he never really improved on whilst at Hull

Partly positioning although in fairness every winger gets caught out at times. It was more a question of his having the quickness of thought and the decisiveness to try make amends once he had been caught out. He was very flat-footed at times the other night and his confidence seemed to wilt visibly once things started to go wrong. A good team would spot that in no time and exploit it ruthlessly.

| As fan of a club who has no players in contention for the wing (maybe soon though), I would go with Hall, encumbant England winger who has done nothing to loose the position. I am not worried about his try tally as playing outside Moon he has not needed to score. McGillvary must play as he is the form winger in our competition & should be given the spot on that alone(I would have Cudjoe at centre with him). If we take four in the squad then Briscoe & Burgess if three Burgess, & it is a shame a couple of other contenders will miss out.

| BTW who is England's #2 goal kicker (after Widdop, presumably)?
Sam Tomkins? I've hardly seen him kick a goal in the NRL (although he does do restarts, and the Warriors do get plenty of them...).

Which is exactly why briscoe is a better winger than hall. He can create tries out of nothing and puts himself in the right places to get the ball whereas hall pretty much hangs around on the wing waiting for it

Mc Gilvary is so good Wigan want him !!!!
Despite some of our more excitable supporters Hall is No 1 for me still.
Then it is a toss up between Mc Gilvray, Hall and Burgess.
McGilvray if we are playing the power game and the other two if we are going down the attacking pacy wing play.
But it will slos come down to who are the centres.
Wings and centres should be picked together on how they complement each other.
NO good picking two players who individually are good but dont click.

I'd agree with most of this. Except I don't think Hall is mobile enough to play on both wings

| The likes of Tom Makinson must be gutted that they have emerged in 2015 rather than 2005... we have gone from no quality wingers to this highly charged debate, which can only be a good thing.
My list would be -
1. Hall (has never let anyone down when it matters)
2. McGillvary (unstoppable, deserves his chance)
3. Burgess
4. Briscoe
5. Makinson
6. Lineham
