Maurie Fa'asavalu only got one game for a chicken wing against Celtic.
Of course, there are various factors taken into consideration which plenty on here ignore. The circumstances and severity of the incident, as well as the player's past record (JJB have never been before a disciplinary and Keith Senior hasn't been before them in more than nine years).

Why is it deplorable to sell something that signifies virtually no form of achievement whatsoever? Would you rather him toss it away in the attic and leave it gathering dust?

| "Although it was Senior's first disciplinary hearing since 2000 and the committee agreed there was some provocation, he was told that, as a high-profile player in a big match, he was a role model to hundreds of youngsters and that a suspension was the appropriate punishment."
Nothing like bigging the sport up Senior is one of the most High Profile names in the game at the moment (for a number of reasons) and surely a role model to thousands.......the RFL really do amaze me at times.

| Quote ="Wigan/Leeds Andy"Leeds game plan work to perfection on Friday. They clearly decided to rough Stains up and Graham in particular. A couple of things they went too far in hence the bans but I was surprised at the lack of heart of some of the Stains players.
Can you imagine the Andy Platts and Kevin Wards letting Leeds get away with what they did? They'd have given it back, then some - and shaken hands after the game.
Aus and NZ will try exactly the same thing to Graham in the 4 Nations now after watching that.'"
it didnt affect Graham's performance though - all he did was not shake hands, it didnt have any effect on his on field play. There isnt much point in him dishing it out to JJB, or whoever, because he will just get a ban.
I would much rather he controlled his agression and refused to shake hands, than be sat on the sidelines watching the playoffs.

Indeed. A bit different from a certain Hull player who is selling/has sold his CC winners medal on Ebay...

| Quote ="Wadski"My personal opinion is that the RFL does not want to disadvantage a team going into the play-offs.
There are numerous topics on League Leaders Vs Superleague Champions but it would be seen to be unfair to kneecap a team going into the play-offs as it could ruin their play-off chances.'"
Yet they're quite happy to disadvantage a team attempting to [imake[/i the play-offs (and I include any given club here, not exclusively Hull KR)?
A one match ban for a 'chicken wing' tackle is fine by me, but why not give every offender the same punishment? They want to take the hardline when it suits, but daren't run the risk of rocking the boat in their 'showpiece' play-offs.
Surely its time the rfl learnt that the lack of respect shown to this sport quite possibly stems from the constant rule bending they do when trying to save face.

So is every offence of a chicken wing tackle completely identical in every way?
Is every high tackle completely identical?
Is every brawl completely identical?
The criminal justice system takes into account the exact circumstances and nature of an offence, together with the previous record and mitigation of the offender, in deciding punishment. If it's good enough for the law of the land, why is it not good enough for rugby league?
If you start to apply "one size fits all" to your disciplinary hearings, then you'll have some players getting more than they deserve while others get less. How is that a fairer system?

Never mentioned the word deplorable, but see as you have brought it up, I totally agree he has deplorable actions.
Young kids playing this sport look up to there heros and only a small majority make it through to professional level, they then try to achieve there ultimate goal and play for the country. Then they see Senior showing no respect to the sport buy selling a world cup medal which is a dream of all these young kids and players. And then last Friday he goes into a manic tantram and has to be held back, two moments away from a staight jacket.....indeeed his actions are deplorable.

as opposed to teaching them to cheat the rules (salary cap) to win? using human growth hormones for a physical advantage? betting on their own team to lose? being so unproffessional as to get drunk and fall off a wall preventing them from actually getting to represent their country?deliberately trying to injure players ala Hooper and Nickle?
Maybe if Keith was a drunk driver or twice convicted violent criminal he would set a better example eh?
no, no, its clear out of everything in RL our problem is Keith Senior putting Wilkin on his ass

I don't think Graham's performance was up to his usual high standard and I put this down to Leeds tactics. Graham didn't need to do anything that would have meant a ban to give some back -just front up more than he did, but like I said he wasn't alone in this from the Stains side.

He was the best forward on the pitch.
Most metres, most metres per carry of the props (IIRC from TVOC's stats on southstander, I might not), no missed tackles, set up a try.
He was excellent.

indeed.
he did exactly what he had to do - did his talking through his performance, not through foul play. Who cares if he didnt want to shake anyones hand, if he plays like that in the play-offs we have a great chance of winning the comp.

And he did all that with an injury supposedly as a "direct result" of JJBs challenge, which is bad enough to make him miss a full game this weekend.
He's Lazarus in reverse.

...perhaps his brain needed several days to realise that he was injured!
Perhaps it will happen again when he dies and it will take several days before his body stops moving.
(Not that I mean to compare him to a headless chicken...)

It's a child's dream to fly half-way around the world and lose three games out of four? And they say that kids today have no aspiration.
I'm sure Keith has plenty of mementos of playing for England and Great Britain, some of which won't have ended up on eBay.
