| Apparently Flowers tackle was just mistimed and something seen in any RL game according to a Wigan poster? Maybe any game involving Wigan

The cup final incident apart which was just an individual losing control which cost his side a final I've always seen Flower as a tough old fashioned prop who plays things near the edge. Today's tackle was cynical and not even needed as the other 2 had stopped Storton. It's a tactic Mcillorum under Wane employed and seen Powell isa Leauliua plus the 2 Chav props doing it again last season and half or so. Flower was only doing what he is coached. Should have been a red.

| Mistimed! Lol! He didn’t need to get involved in the tackle period!! I hope Flower cops a career ending injury very soon as he seems so intent on doing it to fellow professionals.

He can get involved as the third man but only if he makes the legs tackle above the knees. Clearly goes below the knees and that is a dangerous tackle resulting in injury.
Would expect a severe sanction as this kind of tackle was banned years ago. At least a 3-4 week ban to reinforce the rule.

I see you have added a full stop to give the impression that the words you have quoted stood alone, removing the qualification/explanation.
Bit cynical and self-righteous, innit? Bit of chicken-wing punctuation, some cannonball editing.

So because I didn't delete the full stop in error means comments wishing injuries on players are ok does it?

You added or moved the full stop.
The original quote is arguably about preventing injuries to most players by having one fewer player in the game intent on causing them. Personally I’d prefer that Flower and his ilk convert en masse to Buddhism and go to live in Tibet or something like that. Although I’m resigned to Wigan have plenty of young players coming through their ranks who’ll quickly learn the ways of the referee-blind spot maiming tackle.
Wigan will continue being Wigan.
We’re the ones who need to change and while we should never listen to the bs narrative spun by Wigan supporters/apologists, we can, I hope, watch and learn from your team’s ruthlessness and shamelessness. For now, as victims, the best we can do is recognise your attempted gaslighting for what it is.
Enjoy the rest of the season.

You'll note there is a full stop prior to the quote. As I'm using my phone I missed it when deleting the rest of the post.
As I said above, Ben has been suspended three times in his career but let's wish injury on him for a bad tackle. Best hope no Rovers players are banned for foul play eh or you'll have people wishing injury on them too.

By deleting the rest of the post, you changed the context.
It still isn’t very nice, but wishing injury isn’t as bad as causing injury, and we invariably come out of this fixture with an unhappy number of injured players. Our team has been physically dominated in SL for a lot of years, so we have come off badly with injuries in a lot of games. However, fixtures against Wigan have a special place in our hearts because many of us don’t believe it to be just one of those things. We also distrust the disciplinary process, so the number bans Flower has received reinforces that perception rather than changing our view of Wigan. Just because we’re paranoid don’t mean that they’re not out to injure us.
All that said, I wish we had a bit more of a win-at-all-costs and damn the consequences for everybody else attitude. There is a balance to be struck, and I admit that Wigan have a clear-sighted focus, are willing to innovate, to push boundaries in positive as well as negative ways and the nastiness, although it sometimes spills over into self-harm, serves your purposes pretty well.

How many players BTW, have suffered career ending injuries at the hands of Flower?

| The fact is in a collision sport injuries occur. For whatever reason we seem to get more than most, although certain teams fans would argue that point. But one of the reasons we have struggled in recent years was because our key personnel have been crocked and missing time and again. Some seem to think these things even out over a season, no they do not.Example, Campese and Kelly, how many times were they on the pitch together??very very few, that,s just one, but an important one,and we lost the million pound game and were relegated(Admittedly the Kelly missing incident was different circumstances) but the point remains. Lose key personnel, and we struggle, and most would.
The situation re. injuries has been discussed, and we all have our opinions, I have said mine before, bad luck and bigger forwards trampling over ours, but, maybe I,m a bit paranoid, but every time we play Wigan I expect injuries, and lo and behold it always seems to happen. Too often, in my opinion, not because of bad luck, but because(in my opinion) of deliberate cynical actions by some individuals which remove players from the field and ultimately affect the result. Of course, the apologists say the "incidents" were not deliberate, maybe they were not, but when you are on the receiving end it makes you think does,nt it?This time we lose 4 players, 2 of which are deemed worthy of bans(Flower gets two matches, what a joke)
Meanwhile, our playing staff is decimated further.
Until the disciplinary panel get their heads in gear and punish the offenders harshly this will never stop, with the potential to finish a players career and income.
How about, as well as giving out long match bans and heavy fines, the offender is banned from playing the same team in the return fixture, hence weakening the offending team and also removing the potential for a re-active flare up, but that,s not going to happen is it?

No problem. I’m sorry for characterising your oversight as deliberate misrepresentation.

You don’t think that is setting the bar rather low?
Are we counting Hohaia’s retirement with recurrent symptoms of concussion in April 2015?
Ben Flower is a human being who has never directly hurt me, and I don’t wish him ill. His actions last weekend I view as being characteristic of an ethos at Wigan that to some degree angers and saddens me, but some parts of which I envy.

If you like, but seeing as he tried and failed to sue Flower due to suffering multiple previous concussions because he didn't know how to tackle, probably not.
