Yeah, clearly a crap player but, not as bad as the defenders left on their booty's and he would be Wigan's best player, by a distance, if you could afford him

Calm down, dear. I didn't say he was a bad player, I just found his "try" at Warrington highly amusing, along with several thousand others who were there. I don't understand why you feel the need to bring Wigan into the argument, but believe me, they could afford him long before the teams in the Rhubarb Triangle could, even if you all chucked in together.

Forgive my ignorance, but what exactly is the Rhubarb Triangle? In France nobody has heard of this.

I agree that his slip was hilarious but, in itself, it doesn't detract from what a superb player he is for both codes.
As for Wigan or others in SL affording tat contract
Sorry bud but, Wigan aint going to be paying anyone anything like the numbers quoted, not even in your wildest dreams and nor should they.
As I said previously, RL has been down that route before - remind us what happened to Central Park.

Little minutes in the RU world cup has little interest to me. If SBW can still rip it up in Rugby League which I am sure he can then that's all that matters. This would be a great signing for Toronto.'"
It's an Irony thing. Anyone who dares follow the "other code' as well as league is constantly reminded how fat, slow and technically inept "onion" players are, ignoring the fact that they get more money, more fans and more eyeballs, not to mention bigger gates that we could ever hope to get. SBW is a fringe player in a team that is no longer the best in the world. Money Bill will be an OK player in SL, but he really hasn't got a lot to offer in terms of the "beckham" effect that Toronto are claiming
Quote "We are working towards making Sonny Bill Williams a Wolfpack player for 2020. We would love to have him join the Wolfpack family and we will pay whatever it takes to make that happen," Argyle said."Sonny is a phenomenal athlete. He is rugby's LeBron James and we see his recruitment as bigger than when David Beckham joined LA Galaxy. He is box office and puts bums on seats. David Beckham plays the #1 sport in the world. RL isn't the #1 sport in the 2 main countries that host the only pro comps......

You really dont like him do you.
The very fact that he's played for NZ and been part of their (previous) world cup winning side and despite his reduced minutes, is still able to command a place in their side does seem to trouble you.
What more do you actually want from a rugby player ?
Not being Australian, he is unlikely to win the RL world cup but, apart from that, he's been at the top in both codes.
Who was the last player to do that ?

The two words (or is it still technically 3?) that sum him up. As I've pointed out, he's gone from 60+ minutes to 28 minutes game time. His skills and danger factor have wained, which is to be expected given his age.
In Broken play, SBW is still a threat, but RL, unlike Union, has far less broken play. He's a 2nd row in League, so will attack the flanks on 3rd/4th plays and use his off-load...he will do a good job for any SL side, but what I question is the "Beckham" quote from Argyle claiming that he'll put bums on seats, when they already claim to fill their stadium The Beckham claim, stating that he will put RL on the NA sporting map and the insane amount of money being quoted.
I don't like him because he walked away from a contract to join French Union.......he should never have been allowed back into the NRL.

Walking away from the Bulldogs was wrong but plenty of RL players have done far far worse.
We've had drug cheats, Coke heads, domestic abusers, drunk drivers etc etc. SBW walking away from a contract is small-time compared to that.

Jamie Lyon walked away from a Parramatta contract back in 2004 saying he was done with the NRL. Played country RL before a St Helens stint for 2 years before wanting a return to the NRL. Turned down a Parramatta offer in favour of Manly. Probably not as bad as SBW but similar.

Lyon was true to his word and played lower grade ARL, then SL, before being head hunted back to the NRL. SBW walked away for money, pure and simple and he should never of been allowed back into the NRL. He is the ultimate narcissistic and should rot in Japanese Union rather than cost Toronto what teas like Salford spend on their entire squad.

| What does it matter? If he’s so rubbish (as you seem to believe), let Toronto waste the money and it won’t have an impact on the tin pot clubs anyway. If he genuinely isn’t a media draw, or a good player, lock this thread and let it all happen in the background.
The fact is, he is a superstar, playing 2 codes at the top. Benji Marshall might be a spent force from what he once was, having code hopped for money, but still captain of NZ and getting the job done.

Not head hunted at all. He made contact with Parramatta seeking a return to the NRL and went into negotiations with them. Most were surprised when contract negotiations broke down and other clubs then came in with higher money bids including my club Penrith and Newcastle. Manly came over the top with the highest money bid.
With Lyon it was all about money too and you should be having a discussion with Parramatta legend Peter Sterling about his thoughts on Lyon's treatment of Parramatta, describing him "as lacking class". He also said he shouldn't be allowed back into the NRL.
Disagree on your description of SBW as a narcissist. Have met him and he showed no narcissistic traits whatsoever. Instead I found him to be quite a humble person.
