I took a couple of memories from today's game: Shaul's run with Charnley's ball steal, and Sam Tomkin's try.
Can't remember anything from 2001, apart from getting soaked at both!

I know, Wigan won both finals. And ten inbetween. Truly an all weather club.

13 of the 16 NRL clubs would have beaten Wigan easily today.

Only Parramatta, Wests Tigers and a "Josh Duganless" St. George-Illawarra would have struggled.

Hull FC is truly comparable to the three bottom teams of the NRL. As for Wigan, it would never make the NRL playoffs top 8 based on current form.

I'm sure that had Wigan won the SL title two years running from 5th, their fans would be more insufferably arrogant than Leeds fans, and that takes some doing.

I expect Wigan to disappear up their own communal anus come SL play-off time, as is the norm for them in recent years.

One of the final eliminators will be good, and the grand final. But the rest will be mediocre.

Leeds and Warrington [imight[/i make the top 8. Wigan, in its current form, could not. Wigan's only attacking weapons are the back 3, and the two wingers don't have many opportunities to break free. So it's down to Sam Tomkins to break the opposing defensive line. The centres are mediocre and so are the halves.

Take a look at the top 8 of the NRL. And let's just confine it to the bottom 4 of the top 8. Each club has several exciting attacking options. For example the North Queensland backs are outstanding: Bowen, Thurston, Lui, Tate, Linnett, Winterstein, etc. They would carve up Wigan in a matter of minutes. And North Queensland are barely in the 8!

My son lives in Mackay and watches the Cutters, the standard of the Qld Cup is even more dire than the championship - Cutters have that legend of the NRL Joel Clinton playing when he can fit it in between his shifts at the warehouse!!The Cutters are 2nd in the comp btw!!

those awesome backs have been dire for most of the season to go along with all their forwards. funny isn't that you decided to pick a team who just come into some form against a team who has had loads of injuries and are working there way back in to form... wigan can sit back and relax till play off time cowboys are fighting every week to make sure they get into the top 8.
