Gareth Hock got 4 matches for eye gouging. This was a grade E-F offence.
Elliot Whitehead got 5 matches for biting. This was a grade E-F offence
I think Chase will be charged witha grade C-E offence (strikes with elbow whilst tackling - reckless).
Chase did get banned last year, so that will also go against him.
I'm going for a 3 match ban - it's less serious than the above named incidents but his previous record might add another match so he could miss 4.

It didn't look reckless to me. It looked malicious and pre-meditated.

It looks as if he deliberately lead with the elbow, meaning to inflict injury. Cowardly shot and bragging about it afterwards. There's a case that he should be banned sine die.

Didn't see Ryan Bailey get banned for life when he intentionally elbowed folk. Or how about McGoldrick who in the same game intentionally elbowed someone when he had the ball?

I know, let's just ban everyone for life everytime they miss time a challenge and hit someone in the face....that will leave the league brimming with quality, because it doesn't lack it at the minute right?

But, having watched the replay, it does look like he deliberatly led with the elbow. No intention to tackle.

Pity Luke didn't do a propper job on his ankle. I wouldn't normally say such a thing but that's abysmal from chase.

He has got that part to his game, it's not something new.

It's pretty clear where the contact is, in slow motion. I think Chase will deservedly be gone for some time, for that.

I may be among the minority. But this is just poor technique. And this is how Rangi often tackles, He comes out of the line with a big shoulder to put shots on, And most of the time. Its fine.

I dont think he has intentionally attacked Ropati with an Elbow/ Forearm. Having watched Rangi over the years, This is how he tackles. Jumps in with a shoulder with his arm stiffened.

Unfortunately, He is likely to get banned, As he has misjudged it, And caused damage. But for me, Should be 2 or 3 games. And a warning on his technique.

Having watched it again, I'd agree with you. Although I'd say 3-4 games rather than 2-3 since it's not the first time he's misjudged a "big hit". I don't think he intentionally hit him high, but if he's going to go in to tackles like that he has to be a lot more careful.

Just watched it on the video sharing site and it does looks like an elbow to me but it's not massively conclusive. If so it's a horrible cheap shot.
