Similarly,i refuse to have anything resembling red and white. I won't buy a red car cos when i tow my caravan it'll be red and white,won't use a toothbrush thats got red on it,i even ditched some brand new boxer shorts out of a set at xmas that were red and white (i'm sure that purchase was done on purpose) it's that serious. My son is now adopting the same principles.

Not plastic at all, quite to opposite. I supported United from 1974 and through my active years when I was a regular attender they were never a great team. There was no bandwagon to jump on, that was purely for the real plastic reds/wannabe scousers who for some reason don't get the same level of abuse.

After the premiership was formed and Uniteds resultant success meant that I couldn't afford to be a fan even if I had wanted.

I'm still in touch with plenty of United fans both real and plastic and my point remains, they don't and never have considered Leeds as rivals.

Strange that, because I work with several Utd season ticket holders, varying in time watching them from 70s onwards, and every single one of them hates Leeds, and talks about how big the rivalry is with them.

god i detest rovers I really do, but I have several friends that support rovers, and that statement of things would never enter my mind
i have attended hull derbies since early 80s and theres always banter, but I have never been involved in violence as such.

when I was younger and learning to play the piano my dad wouldn't even let me play "when the saints go marching in". My piano tutor kept telling me off for not practicing enough, and I couldn't explain that I had to wait until my dad was out to practice really quickly. hahaha

For me fan wise Wigan v Saints will always be the biggest rivalry, but I reckon players wise State of Origin has to be the most intense.

I've always found Leeds v Bradford as the least intense derby of the big guns.

The problem with the Leeds vs Bradford derbies is that during SL there's only been about 2 seasons where both teams were on an even footing in terms of skill and players. At the beginning of SL it was very much a domination of Bradford which has now switched to a domination of Leeds. It's unfortunate that when the clubs could go toe to toe that the fixture was over exposed. We played each other 6 or 7 times one season. 2 games against your rival in a season, you can get worked up for those. when it's every other week then the game loses some of it's flavour

You got them right, except for Eels vs Panthers, don't know where that one came from. Eels vs Doggies is probably the biggest rivalry in the NRL, see 74k at last year's semi.

dont know about the most intense derby.but it could quite easily be the biggest game in british RL.
