I can see the ARL recommending him for a flight to Aus for the four nations

After watching NRL its hard to sit through SL games.
It must be the presentation because the gulf looks huge

It starts on the 12th March and yet no one seems to know what is happening re TV.

Anyone got an answer or is it 2GB on the radio or the mini screen stuff if Bigpond let it come free courtesy of the NRL!!!

I cannot understand broadcasters not seeing there is a demand for this product.

As for TV I did email them on Monday and put the specific question about whether it'll be shown free by Telstra (assuming no one picks it up) but I didn't get a reply this time. Previously they replied almost straight away. Not sure what to read into that.

Just recieved an email which says....... Quote We are close to agreeing a new tv deal and should have more details by next week. '" It also adds.... Quote Alternatively, it is likely overseas fans will have the option of watching live games via a pay-per-view option on www.NRL.com. This will be confirmed prior to the season's start. '" Sounds like good news all round then although still no indication on who the potential broadcaster is. I would suspect ESPN at such a late stage. And who knows maybe ITV 4 could be an option. A wild one maybe but they've recently bought rights to screen 59 Indian Premier League Cricket matches.

I find it funny that Leeds were beaten at their own game and haven't stopped whinging since.

The Rhinos and St Helens took pride in bullying sides into submission and beating them in the much talked about 'arm wrestle'

but when they are undone when the tactic is employed against them they whinge at the ref and anybody else who is willing to listen. It is not pretty to watch, no, but it was effective for the Storm and is what Leeds and Saints have done in defence for a few years now and gained success off the back of it, albeit not to the same extent, but they still did it and did it well. I know these teams have a great attacking game but all success is built on a good defence.

For what it is worth I don't want it getting to that extent over here but it is something that needs to be sorted prior to any world cup or world club challenge as we almost always lose out in this area.

Don't touch it with a barge pole. The quality is shocking to say that it's a subscription service. I wouldn't be surprised if any deal at all is arranged at all, it may be more profitable for the NRL to try and push it's internet service. Regarding ESPN, if they were to get it, I would fear the worse for the coverage. Considering they have the rights to the AFL, we would have a clash in the scheduling. ESPN obtained the rights to France's Top14 Union competition this season. What a mess they have made off if, 1 live game every 3 weeks on average. I can't see them holding the NRL in any higher esteem. Only hope is SKY.

Its the bigpond site that streams the live games. You can link to it through the NRLs main site.

When the NRL was on sky, they used to get between 20k - 30k viewers. This would be even less you would have to assume on ESPN. This is a terrible figure so the NRL would have to sell the right for dirt cheap, for any broadcaster to pick them up.

Well a week to go now till NRL season begins and still no confirmed. Come on Sky put in a bid !

That's been on there for a number of weeks now! Im not convinced, seen as on the ESPN website there is nothing!

Doesn't look like ESPN will be happening. They are advertising AFL showing on Thursday March 25th and Friday March 26th Live and in HD.

They did say a deal was close last week but the lack of an announcement doesn't bode well.

Bit of a left field choice but maybe British Eurosport would be the ideal home for the NRL?
