This was meant to be a routine meeting with nothing of particular note to discuss. McManus was away, Bradford couldn't vote as the new owners haven't been ratified yet, and the Castleford chairman was ill. The vote on structure was dropped on the meeting out of the blue. How is any of this clubs not being bothered?

| If a vote was called for during the meeting then clubs who disagreed with the vote taking place would have had no option but to physically walk out. if they had stayed it would have been counted as abstention and the vote would have proceeded. The fact this non agenda item was put on the table despite the RFL stating it would wait till after the RLWC and the fact that clubs that did not feel in a position to vote without further info were forced to look childish by walking out of the meeting is the real disgrace by Heatherington and the others who supported the action.
Our game is run so poorly it beggars belief!

You mean Gary's wife Kath (Wakefield) and their lap dog James Rule (Widnes)?
Then there's London who want more RFL assistance so they're hardly going to argue with them.
Not sure on Koukash's standing.

| I've not a lot of time for gh but he has consistently run a tight ship at Leeds so deserves credit to a large extent.
The rfl and Sl need to look to 1895 and consider the opportunities about to arise as the economy returns to normal over the next 10 years. I see merits in this plan of splitting the league in the 888 format, but you know it could be put back to 2016 to ensure it is properly discussed and voted on.
In the grand scheme of a game that is over 100 years old we do take too many decisions too quickly I think.
Issues clubs have need resolving well before a vote is called.

| So the influence of one man seems to be a driver here.
Naively I will say that if GH is so good an administrator for the game, he possibly should run it?
Then there can be no accusations of a bias towards his club and the game benefits from his skills as a whole.

The original post by Cripesginger was suggesting the walkout clubs are all represented by succesful business people and put in to question Gary Hethrington's background. I was just making the point that some clubs who didn't walkout are also represented by succesfull business people such as David Hughes, Marwan Koukash, Steve O'Connor etc.
As far as Koukash is concerned he's been publicly critical of the those who walked out of the meeting.

C’mon, we are getting a little ridiculous here.
So not only is GH in cahoots with an RFL he has repeatedly criticised, he also presided over Wakefields financial crisis leading to a few weeks ago KH being employed as a consultant by Wakefields new board, but he also parachuted James Rule into Steve O’Connors business?
its pretty simple that there is a disagreement about how to achieve something, maybe even not what we are trying to achieve. Theres no need for us to start throwing in pointless skulduggery its idiotic.

There is no wonder RL's is constantly shooting itself in the foot with attitudes like this.

Pretty sure Sky would want to review their contract if 6 of the highest places teams are suddenly no longer in it.
Reading the article, Ifully agree with the clubs that walked out and they are spot on about the RFL rail roading their idea. It has not been a Consultation where the RFL have drawn up reports for each structure, with pros and cons and how each would be financed for each league and club. The RFL would then have given the plans to each club and discussed them.
This not my happened, the RFL have spent the entire year trying to convince everyone their idea is the way forward. But even for this it sounds like they have not got any detail of how to finance it. Gareth Walker reported that the RFL spent 90 minutes talking about the split structure to the championship clubs this year and only a
Couple of minutes on the others.
Well done then6 I say!

| The problem is, noises coming out of both sides seem to be saying that the clubs will actually vote through the new structure but some want a further review of the RFL and the decision making processes. This is all well and good but you can see why one side is getting frustrated at the proposed structure not becoming official not because those clubs wont vote it through, but because those clubs want something else. They are frustrating the restructure in a power and money grab.
Now im not saying that there isn’t need to review the RFL and the decision making process, im not saying that the SL clubs shouldn’t have more power and im not saying that the distribution proposed is right. But we are a year down the line and we don’t have a concrete alternative and it seems that this rebel 6 wont actually propose one.
If this is as it seems and that the rebel 6 arent de-railing this process in opposition of the cut to 12 and 3x8 system, but they are doing it for an independent SL committee and a seat on the RFL board and a redistribution of income then I think they are taking entirely the wrong in what they are doing, even though I may agree with some of their demands.
