| Quote ="Bondi_Warrior"There plenty of decent places in the west, although some areas are horrible, but so is most of towns in the North of England. Just like not all areas of the Eastern suburbs are nice, I have lived there and some areas are worse then in the west. Personally I think the best areas in Sydney are either the northern beaches or down Cronulla way.'"
The nicest suburbs in Sydney are not the oceanside suburbs you mention, such as the massively overbuilt and overcrowded Bondi, but rather the harbourside suburbs of the east and lower north. There are few places in the world as lovely as the water view parts of Vaucluse, Darling Point and Elizabeth Bay in the eastern suburbs, and Mosman, Cremorne, Neutral Bay and Milson's Point in the lower northern suburbs. However rugby league players seem to never aspire to live there, prefering instead the ocean side suburbs, where they can surf, like Coogee, where I believe the Burgess brothers live, as did Adrian Morley before them.

| The nicest Suburbs in my opinion are Balmoral Beach at middle Harbour or any of the Beaches north of Mona Vale, with Whale, Avalon and Palm Beach right up there.

Well they're just about to buy Rangi Chase so that covers the five eighth.

Well Millward was certainly implying quite strongly that he's on his way on the SL Show this week.

I don't believe it.
Tomkins is much more likely to want to live in the sunshine of Australia, rather than in the damp and dreary Wiganesque weather of New Zealand. .

Bunch of Poms talking about Sydney.
Sydney born and raised. Born in the greater west, lived most of my life in the north-west, currently live in the inner-west, work in the east. There's great suburbs all over Sydney, and also suburbs you would have to pay me to live in. I am partial to the north-west, Castle Hill in particular. It's away from the city, larger living spaces, low crime rate, extremely well serviced by shops and away from Old Northern Rd and Showground Rd it's QUIET. Genuinely think it's one of the best areas to raise a family in.
It's pretty much the opposite to where I am now in Stanmore. Directly under the flight path, nearly as bad as Marrickville. Also right on the railway. Used to complain that we weren't serviced by trains in the north-west, but they're just crime hubs I can do without. Can't bloody park off the roads around here and you often have to pay for it
While the east has a good reputation, I'd never live somewhere like Bondi. I'd probably be the only Australian living there if I did. Even the nice suburbs are really poorly serviced by shops. Even the Bunnings in Rosé Bay is seriously pathetic.
Northern Beaches? Talk about geographic isolation. If a common mode of transport to and from your suburb is by bloody ferry, I'm not going near it.

Yes, couldn't agree more. Drinking a beer as my ferry leaves Circular Quay, with the Harbour Bridge on my left, Opera House on my right, and skyscrapers in the sunset behind me, I often think about how awful my commute is compared to the Central Line sardine tin I used to catch home in the big smoke

We did and it didn't seem to take long via Neutral Bay and over the H Bridge.

There are no ferries from the northern beaches other than Manly. Any other northern beach requires at least a bus or a car to get to a ferry. Most people would take a bus or a car all the way to the city or to a train station.
Ferries are a common and delightful form of transport to the city (Circular Quay) from the lower northern suburbs such as Milson's Point, Cremorne, Mosman and Neutral Bay.

Indeed. And there are still clowns in the game who think we need to *reduce* the cap still more until the dross catch up. Death spiral.
