I'm with you on this one. Getting shut of "on report" would be throwing the baby out with the bathwater. What does need to happen though is the system should be applied properly and any referee deemed to be hiding behind it, should be disciplined.

I'm not saying there shouldn't be a process for reporting incidents that the ref hasn't seen, merely that it shouldn't be an option available to the referee as this encourages the kind of abdication of responsibility we saw last night.

Don't all games get reviewed anyway? There isn't really any need for the "on report" option. Bentham bottled it and what ever little respect the players had for him was lost in that moment.

all games get reviewed by the 'match panel' anyway, but in my opinion should scrap the on report system no use as they will get picked up on anyway! all matches have a camera there recording them there should be a fourth official and if it looks dangerous but the ref isnt sure the 4th official has a gander at it and makes the decision, kind of like the review systems in cricket and american football where the coach or the captain calls for the decision to be reviewed.

IMO the Lee 'tackle' was a bad one. Briers was slightly crouched when he got hit but the fact that Lee cocked his arm and swung it is the issue.
I think Lee wanted to hit him across the chest but as Briers was crouched, he got hit smack in the mush which is unacceptable. When Briers stopped and crouched, Lee saw his opportunity to put the big hit on him and got it wrong - you could see by his immediate reaction that he knew he had.

I don't think there was intent on Lee's part to hit Briers in the face. The fact his timing and technique were wrong could have resulted in a bad injury for Briers. That means he should have walked and should pick up a ban with a warning about his technique.

I always thought the 'on report' system was for when the officials did not clearly see the incident in question. But nowadays instances in games are being reviewed by the disciplinary panel anyway, whether they had been officially put on report or not.
Bentham and the touch judges clearly saw Lee's high shot yesterday, the TJ knew it was a bad one, Bentham just bottled it. Would Lee have walked if Ganson was officiating? Absolutely.

Only thing that saved Lee was his instant recognition his actions.

Should have gone, straight away. And it was intentional. If it gets reported, I wouldn't be surprised if Mr Moa is playing again before Mr Lee.

After finally getting to watch the incident on the SL Show last night, I'm astounded that anyone can defend that tackle. The arm came back straight and was swung forwards while it was still straight. There was no attempt to tackle, just to decaptiate.
I'd suggest the reason that Briers was 'already going down' is because he could see what any two eyed fan of the game could see: "Oooh, this is going to hurt if I don't duck".

Yeah but apparently twelve other Warrington players committed identical atrocities over the course of the eighty minutes and should have been sent off too. It's just that only the Huddersfield home stand saw them, not the Sky cameras or the people watching at home.

Westwood should've been given a yellow after I saw it on a replay. IMO of course.

From behind? Looked like side on, to me, the kind of thing you see quite frequently, just with varying degrees of "being late", be it a split second (usually deemed to be "already committed"icon_wink.gif, or a few seconds. To read what you, and others, have said, you'd think Westwood waited 10 minutes before running up behind Brown and clobbering him. Get a grip.
