Toronto Arrows RUFC have:-
29 Home grown Canadian players
A TV deal with TSN
Exactly what the game here asked from Toronto Wolfpack and was promised by Perez, home grown players and TV deals .
Lot's of silly fishing going on above, but seriously the Arrows are a success and TWP were a hollow failure. Of course I'd have liked that the other way round. But it wasn't. Let's not pretend it was.
Thankfully we have some great clubs pushing forward from here like Bradford, Widnes, Newcastle, Leigh, London, Featherstone and York......
SEVEN great clubs pushing for the place vacated by TWP....

For this season if you read on it states they have to agree and sign for 2021
The Wolfpack would now have to enter into a new Participation Agreement before being able to play in the competition in 2021.
Now does that super league or championship, they don't half drag it on
Good job it not an injured animal in need of putting down
I fear they have chickened out

| What is this exactly that Toronto need to agree to 'a new patricipation agreement' ? They already didn't recieve any funding/TV money from Sky, so do they just have to agree to that again ??? But they do need to find new owners, as Argyle has 'spent his last dollar' on the club as he says. Including all the players who are owed 2 months wages !!!

It's the deal they had with Superleague. Don't worry about being confused reporters are still talking about how TWP are a "Franchise" and how someone can just come in and buy them and carry on. They cannot.
The participation agreement is a list of things Superleague want from anyone who wants to join them. On that list is a commitment to fulfil the seasons fixtures for the obvious reasons that if you pull out because it suits you to do so then all you do is ruin the competition and bring the competition into disrepute. Argyle the poor and destitute $$Billionaire walked away leaving the game in an element of chaos. Had it not been for the Covid break being a convenient excuse, it would have been totally shocking.
Other clubs have found Superleague too tough to handle but have seen their seasons out. London lost all their games heavily to the point where Leeds only sent a reserve team down there (and lost) IIRC Crusaders from Wales saw their season out and despite going into administration for which they were deducted points for going into administration. Paris saw their season out.
Some people are swallowing the idea Argylle ran out of money, and swallowing the idea someone may buy TWP and play in Superleague again. They are swallowing the idea Ottawa who are following the same model as Toronto will "do it right" this time with all these home grown Canadians. I can't blame them because the game is too frightened to call this nonsense out. It would make them look like Little Englanders. Not because they are but because the detractors would have a field day. You see that on here.....

There isn't a "They" TWP was a two man project that ended as one man's disaster.
There is no Superleague place anymore. There is no membership of the RFL, the guests have walked out on their invitation.
There's nothing for anyone to "buy" TWP have no ground, it was rented. TWP have no players their contracts are breached and they are free agents, there are no "shares" to buy. There is nothing now left of them apart from the odd Argyle lacky pretending this is all a little local difficulty just wait whilst one of the long line of prospective new owners comes and buys them.
There's no participation agreement as above. but there certainly is a lengthy list of real clubs who would like to take their place. Time to be fair to them.
Time to call out New York and Ottawa. Given their "ambitions" are Superleague the game here should be organising for them to provide a "bond" before they kick a ball here. Argyle failed completely on an £18,000,000 spend. Anyone think Perez or Wilby has that?
Anyone think real sports investors will look at the TWP debacle and say - yeh I'll stick a few $$$Million in.
According to dreamers Perez and Wilby they are there and pumping it in now, but we cannot possibly be told who they are.

They aren't pursuing anything now
[i"When Hunter says ‘potential new owner’ he’s referring to two groups, both of which have since become public. The first is a group based out of the United States, assumed to be led by Ricky Wilby. The second is the Newcastle Thunder. It’s important to note that the CEO only referred to the groups by their geographic designation, although both seem to have very different ideas of what direction they would go with the Wolfpack".[/i
New York and New Castle are after their place in the league.

How many RU clubs are part of their TV deal and how long has RU been played in Canada - just asking, you know, for balance
There is more RU going on in Canada than there is Rugby League over here. Why wouldn't they have a TV deal
Your ability to skew an argument with lack of any attempt at balance is just ridiculous. - get a grip man.
What you are saying is akin to asking why Scottish RL doesn't have it's own TV deal or maybe Serbia not having a RL channel on TV.
You are utterly deluded to believe that Widnes and Newcastle being in SL will offer anything significantly better for the sport, than keeping TWP and Catalan in the comp. In fact, it would be a backward step (even taking account of TWP being a busted flush)..
You line 'em up old lad and I'll happily knock 'em down for you

| Embarrassing, blinking embarrassing. There is still a Crusaders team playing in the Eastern half of Wales and the Broncos are still going in London. But Toronto and the Paris RL club, why can't people be thorough and realistic? Handing out free tickets just before the PSG v Sheffield opening match in 1996, ffs!!!!!

You have a great point, for some reason the powers that be let anyone in to do anything, somehow in the name of expanding and developing the game. It's just become so ridiculous now that the next TV deal needs to make everyone come down to planet earth, present a united front, and stabilise the game ensuring places like Wales, London and Newcastle who are logical targets for expansion and development that will benefit the game are accommodated and encouraged, not allow it to become a laughing stock and a circus....

The Toronto Arrows are A newly formed team. They played exhibition games only in 2018 under the name Ontario Arrows, then bought their way into the MLR (Major League Rugby) in 2019 by actually buying part ownership of the league itself to get in. They played their inaugural season in MLR by renting two grounds, a college ground and yes you guessed it, Lamport Stadium. The deal with TSN cost them money (and by the way TSN also showed TWP games prior to the one man ego show and then going into SL).
They have some new backers with money (sound familiar) who have bought their way into a league by buying part of the league. This one year old team, with no home, playing out of two rented grounds in a league they partially bought, is your example of a success story and an example of how big rugby union is in Canada.

Not even Donny can put a negative on the Toronto attendances.
The marketing and promotion of a new club in "alien" territory is something that ALL of the UK clubs and the RFL could do to learn from.
Add to the fact that these were all new fans of the sport, it's difficult to imagine any UK club being this successful at putting bums on seats.

Once again: Agreed. The business house and marketing are second only to the Bulls at the beginning. of Super league.

The Midlands is the place where the RFL and clubs should push expansion, ETP and getting another couple of semi pro clubs. It can be done, IF there is the will. Problem is, the 'expansionists' and anti expansionists, would say, 'The Midlands, why, dod't be daft'. In fact Donny Osmand said just last week, ...like some country bumpkin, 'Ugh ugh, Mansfield???'
BUT that is where the expansion would work best in the UK IF there was the will and understanding.
I must confess I have an interest, but I am correct.

You don't seem to be able to take anything in, especially all the returning fans from the Lamport who cast doubts on the TWP paying crowds three ways....
1. Physically there never seemed to be as many reported actually in the stadia.
2. Money wise many never paid, free tickets and a free gate left open during the match.
3. None of them came over here to swell the crowds.
But again what you mainly can't take in is:-
4. Perez was clear to Dave Woods that TWP would bring us NATV deals and Pro-NA players. Nothing about crowds at all.
5. No TV deals and no players.
6. Your maybe trolling, but it at least gives me chance to remind people of the truth.

See above crowds aren't the criteria for a growing game. It's a growing pro-player pool and in time more TV money. Perez didn't promise big crowds. TWP lied about them to try to have some sort of excuse for their failure.
We can't look at crowds although as Argylle walked away there's no longer any TWP crowds. There nothing of substance. Pains me to say it but MLR has plenty of substance....
