I don't agree with much of what the RFL do but i take a step back and look at these new stadiums being built and the ones being played in. It is a good thing and a massive step in the right direction. Galpharm, KC, DW, HJ, LSV, and even Bramhall Lane - excellent places to watch Rugby League - and soon to include Saints & Salford. Hat's off.

i know this isnt accepted by many now but i genuinely believe that because of franchising, 10 years down the track RL is going to be booming

clubs will learn they have to spend their money off the field, not just on it. the area that was most neglected wont be anymore

theres also an excellent opportunity for clubs outside SL to look at the franchise criteria and force their way into SL

i dont think the RFL will cap numbers in sl as long as the clubs outside it really deserve entry

its up to these champ clubs to improve, the ones that can ive no doubt will join an expanded SL.

New Stadia provide excellent oppourtunities for additional revenue via corporate/hospitality functions and ofcourse,mean that less money needs to be spent on maintenance/repairs.I'm delighted for Salford/St.Helens/Catalans,note improvements at Leeds/Hull KR and trust that Cas get theirs off the ground.All will help both finances and the 'image' of the game.I've also heard whispers about a new ground for York,which I would love to see happen - they should be a good,strong Championship Club.

There's probably a couple of weeks in it. I think Salford have always been ahead (with the prep work being done while the final detailed planning approval was still going through), but the PR has been lacking to publicise the fact. I'd imagine Salford's will be a qicker construction as it's less complex than Saints' place.

Looking good!! Took a trip over M60 at Barton today (pretty soon a Reds' fan will be done for curb crawling in the slow lane on the bridge their - you get a right view of the site) and you can really see what is going on.

10 years or not this ground is here now. Steel works and pile drivers and you can clearly see where the pitch is, as well as community pitches next door.

Exciting times for RL as this moves on. Quarter of million cars (iirc) cross the bridge there every day to look at a site that is a mile up the ship canal from Media city

Anyhow...

Great to see things progressing apace and now things will appear to move very quickly and then slow-down again once they top-out... just the nature of the process. See no reason why the ground can't be ready and open for the start of 2012 season.

I think it's a great idea to do this. It's not like you are going to watch and see a new stadium being built on your lunch hour but it will be good for fans to get an up to date view when ever they log in.

To the link to Wakefield poster............I think Wakefield's problems are well documented, so hardly a quick witted dig, but when we get through the next stage and work begins, I expect to see a web cam for us too.

Saying that, as Cas fans seem to crow about how they are now moving on and are not in fact in the same position as Wakefield....where is their web cam. And I don't just want to see a security camera at Diggerland!
