I also agree with that wholeheartedly.
It almost sums up my approach to TGG - but with respect to the entire game, not just the NRL.

| with some of you guys i just wish you would contribute some money into the game by purchasing tickets
me ive paid for over 500 games which ive been too.
RL needs more fans who put money into the game and less who put nothing
RL even needs less people who claim to be fans but then talk it down at every possible chance

I haven't paid to see a game of League since the 2004 season. NRL, Origin and Tests. Before that I was a season ticket holder and paid all the time. Some of us are granted that luxury by contributing thousands of hours come rain or shine to this great game. Others sit on forums pontificating as to who qualifies as a fan.

| Eagles, Dockers don't mind us: Rabbitohs
17:40 AEST Tue Apr 20 2010
Rabittohs chief Shane Richardson says Fremantle and West Coast are supportive of NRL games in Perth.
South Sydney chief executive Shane Richardson claims both Fremantle and West Coast are supportive of NRL games being played in Perth as the Rabbitohs look to increase their presence in AFL-mad Western Australia.
The West Australian Rugby League is campaigning to get a Perth-based team in the NRL by 2013 despite the past failure of the Western Reds.
The Rabbitohs have played a big part in increasing the profile of league in WA.
South Sydney attracted 15,197 fans when they hosted Melbourne in a regular season fixture in Perth last year and both teams will return to ME Bank Stadium in June to face off in round 16.
"This is not about a threat to the AFL and I've got to say we've had lots of discussions previously with Fremantle and West Coast and they've been nothing but supportive of ourselves over here," Richardson said in Perth on Tuesday.
"It's about giving an alternative to people who have an interest.
"You have a large population from the east coast that are supportive of rugby league.
"You have a large population from England.
"We understand the value of putting rugby league into this area and trying to re-establish it after what happened in the past.
"We're over here to promote rugby league and give a genuine alternative for people who like the rugby game."
Richardson revealed the Rabbitohs were aiming to play two home fixtures in Perth, back-to-back, in both 2011 and 2012.
"We've always wanted to play two games over here but we weren't able to because we haven't really got any support in doing that, so we had to do it all ourselves," he said.
"We'd like to play two games back-to-back here.
"Several things have got to happen there; we need support from the government to do that, not a lot of support but some, and we need support from the WARL.
"And the second thing, I think we need to make sure that we arrange for our NRL fixtures to allow us to ... get out to the Pilbara.
"We want to take our indigenous programs into the regional areas.
"We've proven we can do it now in Western Australia, we've proven that rugby league has an interest and there's a great opportunity to be able to expand that interest."
Richardson said the Rabbitohs would no longer play games in Perth once WA gets their own side.
WARL chief executive John Sackson said: "Having two of the NRL's heavyweight teams playing for vital competition points at ME Bank Stadium will again put the spotlight on the great game of rugby league in WA.
"A sell-out crowd will further enhance our prospects for an NRL franchise to be awarded to Perth in the lead up to season 2013."

| South Sydney chief Shane Richardson backs WA bid to return to NRL By DALE GRANGER From: The Sunday Times April 24, 2010
PERTH'S comeback to top-flight NRL competition has received a major boost with the backing of one of the code's leading administrators.
With the sport still reeling from the fallout of the Melbourne Storm salary-cap breaching scandal, the influential Shane Richardson, has thrown his support behind a Perth-based team's return to the top flight.
South Sydney Rabbitohs chief executive Richardson, the longest-serving administrator in the NRL, who also sits on the NRL's expansion committee, said of the Western Reds dumping after two seasons in 1994: "I think it was very unfair that Perth was cut.
"It was not that they weren't performing; it was all because of a political fallout in the Super League wars and they were sacrificed.
"The reality is that Perth has a big population, great corporate backing and a city that understands membership.
"They could get 18,000-plus people to a game in WA where you'd have a huge parochial following and a huge support base from New Zealanders and English expats that's growing every day. All the ingredients needed.
"I'd say they'd be able to compete from day one. All that a Perth team would need is financial backing and a sound business plan."
Richardson reassured league fans in Perth that the Rabbitohs' June 26 game against the disgraced Storm would still go ahead at ME Bank Stadium.
"I want to make it clear that we don't take our commitments lightly," he said. "We'll be there playing for two points and they'll be playing for pride."
While the sport still comes to grips with the aftershocks of the Storms censure, Richardson vowed that the show would go on.

| "With the sport still reeling" is one or two steps from the familiar and discredited Frank Keatingism "rugby league is dying"...
Hopeless effort.
Don't pull the game down to try and promote yourself, WA.
Take a leaf, JB.

Quote [size=150Perth must get their own NRL side: Tallis [/sizeMay 21, 2010
Rugby league great Gorden Tallis and South Sydney prop Ben Ross have urged the NRL to include a Perth-based side in the competition by 2013 if the planned expansion goes ahead.
The WA Rugby League’s campaign for a local NRL side has been boosted by a pledge of more than $80 million by the Western Australia state government to upgrade ME Bank Stadium.
Tallis, who notched 17 State of Origin games for Queensland and 214 NRL matches over 13 seasons for the Dragons and Broncos, said rugby league needed a Perth team to become a truly national competition.
The WA Reds played two seasons in the NRL in the mid-90s but were shut down in 1997 after defecting to the rival Super League.
"(League boss) Dave Gallop did talk about expanding our game in 2013 (when the new TV rights start) and I think Perth, in my opinion, is the No.1 place to come. I just think it makes sense," Tallis said.
"We know there’s a market here for it, they just need their own team."
Tallis, now a forwards coach with South Sydney, and Ross were in Perth this week to promote the June 26 clash between the Rabbitohs and Melbourne Storm at ME Bank Stadium.
Ross believed quality players would jump at the chance to play for a Perth side.
"I’ve talked to a few boys and they’d all love to be over here playing football," Ross said.
"It’s a perfect environment. We are in the middle of winter now and it’s nice and warm. That’s something you dream about as a player to have a good environment.
"The boys, no matter what, would come over here to play.
"Hopefully we can get up a Perth team in 2013. That would be exciting for me, because I’m coming off contract around then."
The redevelopment of ME Bank Stadium, home of Super 14 side Western Force and A-League outfit Perth Glory, is expected to begin in 2012, with improvements made to corporate facilities, player change rooms and toilet facilities.
WA Minister for Sport and Recreation Terry Waldron hoped the venue would ultimately become a state-of-the-art facility capable of hosting up to 25,000 spectators.
Meanwhile, Ross revealed he was on track to make his comeback from a broken neck for the Rabbitohs’ round 13 clash with the Cowboys on June 7.
Ross, who hasn’t played since suffering the horror injury in round one last year when with Cronulla, has had a frustrating wait for the all clear after signing a cut-rate one-year deal with the Rabbitohs.
He’s yet to turn out for the myrtle and green prompting speculation he may not play again at all but Ross was confident a scan on June 1 would give him the all clear to resume his career.
"I think it’s been 66 weeks now so I’m a bit over training and I’m a bit over hanging out with Gorden Tallis," he said with a smile.
"Just getting back on the field will be great.
"If there was any danger, I wouldn’t come back. That’s why it (the rehab) has been so long."'"
